I borrowed this book from a friend of mine, and it took me exactly 6 days to read it, which includes time when I had to stop in order to eat, drink, sleep, go to school, go to work, and do homework. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! This book is an amazing recollection of one of, No, probably THE most nightmarish length of time in European history. Such sorrow, yet the story exudes such rebellion,a strong will to survive, even hope.Faith was most tried however.Jack Eisner and his family were fiercely religious, and Jack's father was a philosophical thinker,a true dreamer in every sense of the word,and a quality that stood out for me was his...faith in a government that would turn against him.It took some extreme changes for his vision to be swayed.Jack was a perfect constant character, allowing the expression of hurt values and beliefs and faith and a need for revenge.I highly recommend this book for it's horrific truths and the endurance of the human soul.A real uplifter...
