Amanda Bonilla is the author of the Shaede Assassin urban fantasy romance series.

    I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

    This is the first in a trio of shifter shorts by Amanda Bonilla. While this is a really short read, I have to say that it felt much longer. I think this is because the author managed to stuff an entire plot into 50 odd pages - a feat not easily accomplished! This is the story of Cait and Logan, seemingly fated lion shifter mates who have been separated by the actions of a jealous rival for 30 years (the shifter life span in this world is very long). Cait is returned to Logan by agreement with her father, who is attempting to negotiate peace between the prides. As is the case with shifters, the sex is oh-so-steamy and the mating instinct wild. Ms. Bonilla does a great job with the smexy parts of this story, without having the sex overtake the plot.

    I really enjoyed this story, and I was impressed by the abilities of this author. Why haven't I heard of her before now? I love shifters, and I love urban fantasy - the excerpt from her UF series included at the end of this short is intriguing and obviously well-written. Seems as though I should have read some of her work by now. Well, it's never too late...I'll definitely read the rest of these shorts and now will seek out her UF series as well. 4 stars for this one from me!
