You can’t teach an old dog new tricks—unless you’re a Sweetheart Sister…
The Sweetheart Sisters, a trio of sassy, well-meaning grannies (who aren’t against a sip of bourbon with breakfast) are ready to dispense advice and help create happy endings with a little of what they do best—meddling.
Animal therapist Olivia Linscott is the Sweetheart Sisters’ first target. Running from a bad marriage and a lousy job, Olivia is determined to save the dog shelter she inherited from the mother she never knew and, above all, to protect her broken heart. The Sisters want to tie the spirited young do-gooder to wounded helicopter pilot Luke Winslow, but the intended pair keeps slipping the leash.

Luke’s dreams were shattered by a career-ending eye injury. Adrift and bitter, the last thing he wants is romantic involvement. But when a golden retriever in worse shape than he is scratches on the door, the dog brings in a whole lot more than puppy love…

Publishers Weekly
In this heartwarming contemporary series opener, Jump (The Matchmaker’s Happy Ending) sends Boston animal therapist Olivia Linscott to Rescue Bay, Fla., in search of her past. The biological mother who abandoned her at birth has left her a lovely house—but it turns out to be entirely run-down. An injured dog provides the initial meet-grumpy with next-door neighbor Luke Winslow, a Coast Guard helicopter pilot whose career was cut short by an accident that killed his best friend; he’s none too friendly at first, but as Olivia and Luke work through their personal troubles, they feel—and fight—a growing attraction. Fortunately the Sweetheart Sisters, a group of bourbon-swilling, big-hearted seniors led by Luke’s grandmother Greta, are happy to encourage the couple toward a satisfying ending that neatly sets up the next book. Agent: Pamela Harty, Knight Agency. (Sept.)

Kirkus Reviews
Olivia Linscott, an animal therapist, escapes snowy Boston for Rescue Bay, Fla., in an attempt to start fresh and heal from a broken marriage; she then meets her match in an injured helicopter pilot, a wounded dog and three meddling residents of the retirement community she works in. After a difficult divorce, Olivia is ready for a new life and is startled when her birth mother, who gave her up for adoption the day she was born, bequeaths her a dog shelter and a house. Olivia jumps at the chance to start over in a new community and packs her life into her car only to find a broken-down property and a barely livable home. Worse, her next-door neighbor Luke is a grumpy, injured military vet, and there's a stray dog wandering their properties who's in even worse shape than he is. Determined to make a go of her new lease on life, Olivia settles in to a new job at a nearby retirement community and meets The Sweetheart Sisters--Greta, Pauline and Esther--a trio of old friends who try to set her up with Luke, who is Greta's grandson. Olivia and Luke have met and clashed and would like nothing to do with each other. But a golden retriever who has a few scars of his own keeps forcing them together, as they both agree that without a little care, the dog will die. Meanwhile, Olivia discovers some deeply seated abandonment issues she must work through, exacerbated by the dilapidated property her mother left her and a couple of other family secrets she uncovers in Rescue Bay. Obviously, Luke and Olivia must overcome many of their own issues, but despite their questionable start, they each come to realize that what they are truly meant to do is rescue each other. Jump's introduction to a new series featuring The Sweetheart Sisters is a smoothly written and emotionally satisfying novel that includes both sexy tension and tender romance, with humor and emotionalism in abundance. A fun, sexy, heart-warming read.

I want to thank the author for sending me this book. I enjoyed it very much. Olivia Linscoot is running from a bad marriage and a lousy job. Olivia is determined to save the dog shelter she inherited from the mother she never new. Luke Winslow is a wounded helicopter pilot and his dreams were shattered by a career-ending eye injury and the last thing he wanted was a romantic involvement.

Truly a story of hope and redemption! I could relate to Olivia so well, on her own again, confused about her direction and chaos begins to reign! Loved that she had such a heart for animals and used it to enhance people's lives...even those who aren't so inclined to embrace love. Luke's character is the guy you just want to take care of and wish the best for recovery from a tragic life event. Luke's grandmother is a hoot and I loved reading about her shenanigans! It's a great book and the beginning of what I predict to be a popular series! Shirley Jump has a knack for tugging at your heartstrings and producing a feel good ending.

Shirley Jump has written another great novel in her Sweetheart Sisters series. Though it's part of a series, it easily stands alone and will make you want to go back and read the others. Shirley always hooks me with her emotion filled characters that walk right off the page and makes me care what happens to them. I found myself laughing, crying, and cheering for the "happy ever after" the characters deserved. Based in a small town that makes you feel welcome, Olivia and Luke must find their way through past hurts, disappointments and life changing events. A relationship is the last thing on their mind, but luckily a golden retriever that needs help, and a trio of match-making grannies are there to help things along. A great story that will keep you turning the pages. Shirley is a great author that I think you will enjoy. She also spends many hours helping other writers on their road to being published.

This is a story of love and redemption. Luke has been dealt a double blow. He has lost a portion of his vision in a terrible work accident, and in the same accident, his best friends life. Olivia has also been dealt a double blow. The end of her marriage, and as a young girl, the realization of her birth mothers abandonment. In this new town, she starts a new life, getting to know an undiscovered sibling. She begins her work with her dog, who is a therapy pet. Through this she meets Lukes grandmother. She and her friends make it their mission to bring Luke and Olivia together. Although plans go awry, Luke and Olivia discover the best in each other. She discovers his deep thoughtful soul, and true heros heart. Luke discovers her deep abiding love, and sweet caring nature. They each bring out the best in each other. The amazing first book in a new series by the phenomenal Shirley Jump.

I'm not normally a reader of romances, but Shirley Jump has the ability to draw you in and make you care about her characters from the very first page. I had to keep reading to find out what happens to Olivia! Shirley has never disappointed me with any of her books! This was a great book to read, and I look forward to many more!

From the opening line to the closing word this was a very enjoyable read. Olivia and Luke were easy to fall in love with, but Miss Sadie and Chance were heart stealers. The trio of grannies and their advice provided many good laughs and smiles. The pages few by trying to solve the mystery of Oliver's inheritance and Luke's guilty secret. A Markers Mark toast to a good read.

I fell in love with Greta from her first sip of Maker's Mark. I wanted her to be my Grandma and meddle in my love life a little. But before I could ponder that, I was pulled in to Olivia's story as she searches for the birthmother she never knew and has now lost twice, once as an infant and now again as an adult when she is notified of her death. Olivia journey to Shelter Bay to not only learn what she can about her birthmother, but to find out some things about herself. Of course then she meets a handsome stranger, but she's no more interested in him than he is in her. But luckily, Greta and her friends have a different idea and hilarity ensues. Throw in Chance, a dog that is in need of rescue as much as Olivia and Luke, and this sweet and sexy romp though coastal Florida is sure not to disappoint.

The Sweetheart Bargain is a great summer read...Perfect to read while laying out in the sun by the pool..which is what I did while I read it. The chapters just flew by and I was drawn in by the residents of Rescue Bay Florida. I loved the Sweetheart Sisters and the great "romance" between Greta and Harold Twohig. LOL and the Advice column writers. Best of all I loved the dance of both mind and hearts of Olivia and Luke. It brought tears to my eyes as I read the words that Olivia has spent most of her life waiting to hear. Great Story by Shirley Jump!! <3

This book is a winner! I was fortunate to get this book several weeks ago (I was lucky to get the book early) & read it in one sitting, I simply could not put this book down. It's the perfect book to read at the beach (or anywhere). I love all of the characters & can't wait for the next book in this series!

I was fortunate enough to be given an ARC of this book for review and, as usual, Shirley Jump does not disappoint. This is a book that would be a lovely summer beach read. I laughed, I cried, I oowed and awed. Ms.Jump is very good at weaving a story with a multitude of fascinating characters that you end up loving. You are pulled in from the first chapter and really don't want the book to end because you are so invested in all the characters, the town and everything that is happening. Always an HEA, too. That's just the type of romance I love!
