Holy Hit-List – this book was incredible!! I can’t even tell you how awesome Vasi is. He’s dark & dangerous but also a protector who is very loyal to his family. He is smart enough not to let his loyalty blind him though. He has incredible instincts and as he learns to fully trust in them he find out things that he never expected. He’s also completely taken with the girl who he is supposed to be eliminating. Riley may appear to be fragile but she is very brave when she needs to be & manages to attract a lot more than just Vasi’s attention. He realizes pretty quickly that he can’t just get rid of her, but now he feels like he should be protecting her. That will not go over well with his family, though, so whatever he decides needs to be a permanent decision. There was so much excitement & surprise in this book it was impossible to put it down! I absolutely loved it and I cannot wait for more!!

The Syndicate marks a new phase in writer Shelena Shorts' career. Backing away from The Pace Series, she's back with a new and electrifying romance plus the element she manages to perfection: Science. The story is centered in Vasi Petrescu, one of the Syndicate's knights who's been loyal and proud to carry family tradition on duty none other than eradicate from society the “Hybrids” that threaten peace. The Syndicate has never targeted a female until now. Once Vassi finds himself against the wall between duty or investigating "why her?" "why now?", and getting to meet Riley could unleash Pandora's Box that could corrupt the syndicate's structures and everything he's believed in. The Syndicate is definitely something new and refreshing thanks to the narrator's POV, who is a guy and every element of such society he's a part of. The biggest credit I can give Shorts with this novel is that she brought something new and refreshing to YA Literture that's really cool and different, but still with the elements we all love about it. The Syndicate is a compelling romance meets the imaginative Minority Report; this first volume in a new promising series is totally a page turner.
