Overview

Francine and Malcolm marry even though she’d never expected the relationship to go any further than the airport where they’d exchanged goodbyes the day she left for her first Air Force tour of duty. Finding out she was pregnant with Chance, their son, changes all that; she leaves the Air Force and returns to Maryland to give Malcolm a “chance” to be a father to his child. The honey moon is over before it starts, but she’d already traded the Air Force for a cashier’s position, blew any chances of any man wanting her with somebody else’s baby, and Baby Chance idolized his adulterous Daddy. She’d just have to sleep in that bed she made; it had to be about Chance now. But as months rolled into years, Francine tires of the image staring back at her. She can’t ignore it any longer. It’s time to do something about it.

The Syrup Lady is the first part of Francine’s story.

Meet the Author

Michele Marie Harris learned early on the value of education and never to depend on a man—they wanted one thing. So, she finished college and became self-sufficient—never relying on a man—even if he was her man. Still, in the end, Michele had a negative self image. Why?
