    Leaves Some Unanswered Questions

This is a short prequel to Mallory's Coale brothers books. It was an okay read, but the reader never really finds out why the heroine's father treats her so poorly and schemes to marry her off. I have already purchased Beneath the Major's Scars, a novel about one of the heroine's brothers, so I hope it will explain the rift that seems to run between the father and his offspring.
