Purpose: The purpose is to provide a basic resource for team physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists and other healthcare professionals. The book is a necessary and helpful resource for all medical personnel who cover team and individual sports related activities and it meets the objectives set out in the preface.
Audience: The book is directed at physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and others in the healthcare field. It is more targeted to experienced sports physicians, therapists, and trainers. The author is a credible authority in the sports medicine field with many worthy and accomplished contributors.
Features: A complete medical perspective is presented for the healthcare provider involved in the care of athletes including pre-participation, event planning, prevention, and specific sport interest. I feel the best portions of the book are the specific sports and the appropriate healthcare issues that may need to be addressed in these specific areas.

It is a complete and valuable reference to the possible injuries and prevention of injuries in athletic related activities. With this 3rd edition, the authors have addressed any weaknesses and updated information.
