Editorial Reviews

Sylvia Ann Hewlett
The Teen Trip is a candid and thourough look at the potentially daunting issues faced by today's teenagers, refreshingly presented through the voices and stories of the teenagers themselves.
Whitfield school student
Very insightful into the innermost feelings of teenagers. It helped us realize that maybe other people have problems just like ours. We could really relate to the kids who spoke about the different topics. We thought the information given to us about how to deal with the problems helped a great deal. -Whitfield School Students, St. Louis, Missouri
School Library Journal
Gr 9 UpThis book attempts, more or less successfully, to be what the title claims. It covers topics from abortion to yeast infections, touching on themes of self-esteem and peer pressure in between. The text is composed of three elements distinguished by different typefaces: student comments, information from the author and adult experts, followed by a listing of sources including some Internet sites. The comments from 1500 teens, which came from Internet discussion groups and high school students across the country, are the main strength of the book. They are often heartbreaking in their honesty and pain. The resource list is also very convenient. Unfortunately, the typeface is difficult to read and the layout is confusing.Kathy Fritts, Jesuit High School, Portland, OR

A good support and reference guide for teens.

A good read for teens who want to know there are others out there just like them. This book shows you both the good and the bad, but it's all from people who have been there. The style is a pick up at any time advise/support guide. Read a quote, skip a section, what ever the reader wants. It also has some illistrations for the chapter titles that were done by talented youths across the country (I donated the one on schoolwork/studying). I read the entire book and it helped me with some issues. I'll have it around for my children when it's time.
