Children's Literature - Children's Literature
A "teeny, tiny" mother mouse and her "teeny, tiny" young one go through a "teeny, tiny" doll's house pointing out all the different colors. In rhyming verse, they look for things blue in the parlor, brown things in the living room, black things and orange things in the kitchen, and red things in the garage. They continue their exploration in different rooms with the colors green, pink, white, purple, and yellow until the baby mouse ends up in the bedroom and finds himself tucked up in bed, dreaming about all the colors that he knows. Each color has a scene on a double page spread and the border of the page is highlighted with the individual color.

PreS-Gr 1A teeny, tiny mother mouse and her teeny, tiny child list all of the different colors in their teeny, tiny dollhouse. Each pleasant double-page spread is bordered by the featured color and offers at least three items for the little mouse to find and name. Some pages include extras for observant children to add to the list. The rhyming text moves along at a peppy pace and would make a good read-aloud. The textured illustrations, painted on rough paper, feature a pair of appealing mice and a cozy home. A dandy addition to color-concept collections.Jody McCoy, Lakehill Preparatory School, Dallas, TX
