Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Praise for Bluford High:
"The Bluford novels have been wildly popular with young readers across the country and continue to entice reluctant readers. . . . The books are well written, treat the problems of inner-city youth with respect, and avoid easy answers to the challenges that kids face today." --James Blasingame, Associate Professor of English Education at Arizona State University, coeditor of The ALAN Review
Here's what teens are saying about Bluford High:
"I love the Bluford series because I can relate to the stories and the characters. They are just like real life. Ever since I read the first one, I've been hooked." --Jolene P.
"I found it very easy to lose myself in these books. They kept my interest from beginning to end and were always realistic. The characters are vivid, and the endings left me in eager anticipation of the next book." --Keziah J.
"Man! These books are amazing!" --Dominique J.
Children's Literature - Sarah Raymond
Liselle Mason is desperate for attention. She is so desperate that she is willing to give up her virginity for it. The problem is that now she is in trouble and she doesn't know what to do. She has been ignoring the issue for weeks and now it is too late to turn back. In order to avoid her mother's disapproval she runs away from home and turns to her father. Her father, true to form, rejects her and she turns to her cousin that is at home with a young child. At first she thinks her cousin has it all together, but after spending a few days with her she realizes that her cousin is not the best mother and she vows to do a better job. Liselle is actually telling her story to a group of high school girls in an effort to stop them from making the same mistake. This story is really simplistically written with little real character development. The only redeeming quality is that the story may be easy to relate to for some readers facing difficult situations. Awesome book

I love this book because first of all for people who are pregnant, it helps you deal with your problems the right way and fopeople who are not then it helps you understand what life would be like for you if decided to have a baby in your teenage years. Just so you know it would not be pretty so i suggest you dont think about stuff like this till you are married. This comment is comming from a 12 years old.
