I am a memoir junkie, and I most love tales of ordinary people sharing an extraordinary time in their lives.
Kevin has recently been discharged from the marines and freshly divorced. He sets out to hike the Appalachian Trail before figuring out the next part of his life. Little does he realize that on the trail he will discover the next part of his life.
This is a true glimpse at what it takes to hike the trail - both physically and mentally. Kevin shares his encounters with other hikers and their fates - why does one make it and another one fail. I enjoyed his trek from state to state, the mishaps, the successes, the whole system of doing the trail. I was almost sorry to see it end.
I thought this book was hilariously funny! I couldn't put it down. Rufus the dog was not exactly the best companion on the Appalachian Trail but you fell in love with him anyway. I don't want to spoil anything but get this book, you will laugh yourself silly, be surprised, awed, and sometimes saddened. It is great! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
