The Thomas Crown Affair [Original Score]by Bill Conti
Utilizing flavorsome beats like the samba sounds of George Fordant's irresistible "Caban La Kratchie," the soundtrack to the remake of the classic 1968 romantic thriller has the best of old and plenty of new. Michel Legrand's Oscar-winning song, "The Windmills of Your Mind," is still a spellbinder. This time, Sting makes magic with the mysterious lyrics and entrancing melody. Nina Simone weighs in with a seriously smokin' version of "Sinnerman," and Wasis Diop has a mellow, low-key urgency with "Everything (...Is Never Quite Enough)" that perfectly complements "Windmills." Making for some sweet listening, Oscar- winning composer Bill Conti (Rocky) also provides a jazz-inflected score laced with ear-catching trumpet notes. Conti deftly intertwines a sense of adventure on "Glider Pt.1" with a playful and romantic mellow mood on "Meet Ms. Banning."

Who is the artist that does the saxaphone version of ''Windmills of your mind'' in the movie (this is not on the sound track) only in the movie. If anyone knows please e-mail. It is a beautiful rendition!
I bought this CD soundtrack almost a year ago and I can't even begin to count the number of times I have listened to it. My neighbors must be sick of hearing it by now. Sting's version of ''Windmills of the Mind'' evokes the mood of the film for me.
While I enjoyed the movie, I was more impressed by the soundtrack: I bought it the same day I saw the film. Sting's ''Windmills of my Mind'' has a sweet desperation to it - he really delivers the lyrics. ''Sinnerman'' is jazzy & rhythmic and Nina Simone's voice is perfect for the message it sends. My favorites are Glider 1 & 2. Man! Do they soar. The intertwining of keyboard, horns and strings makes you want to study composing to figure out ''how'd they do that''! Such exhilaration, sweetness and joy come through I wanted to cry.
With a movie as great as 'The Thomas Crown Affair' you would expect a soundtrack to be at the least, entertaining. This soundtrack has far exceeded that expectation and moved into almost legendary status. When I first watched the movie, one of the elements that drew me in, besides Rene Russo's beauty, was the score. Bill Conti's magically inspired musical companionship to this film caused me to choke up at times, laugh at others. Even without the movie's visual element, the soundtrack on its own is enough to relax, invigorate, inspire, and impassion just about anyone whose ears are lucky enough to be graced by the melodies. Among my favorite titles on the CD are 'Everything (Is Never Quite Enough)' by French artist Wasis Diop. This song is filled with just about as much passion as I could handle. Nina Simone's 'Sinnerman', which graced the movie several times, is one of the most energetic songs on the CD. Its almost giddy amusement and simultaneous confusion leaves you satisfied after its 10 plus minutes of playful music. The mix of Jazzy mood music, light background music, fun and passionate music, make this CD a must have for any music lover with a discerning ear for contemporary classical mixes of styles. Confused yet? Just buy the CD. One more tip. This is a great date CD, and put track 3 on repeat if you need some passion music.
