    very enjoyable read

Spead through the whole book over a week long vacation. It was engrossing and enjoyable. If you enjoy forgotten realms you will enjoy this book. An interesting look at the underwater realms which have been pretty much ignored by other books. I also like the fact that it makes you care about a caracter who is essentially evil... you read it while wishing for her redemption.

    Enjoyable read

To be honest when I picked up Threat From the Sea I wasn't looking for a good read. I usually find that books that are written about games or from games sourcebooks usually lack much in plot, substance, and even good facts about the games they are written about. I was pleasantly surprised. Mel Odom has (I feel) really captured the feel of the undersea races (at least the sahuagin who are primary antagonists in this book) and does a great job keeping the momentum of the book going. The only flaw I could find in any of his undersea adventure was when he had manta rays shredding captives gladiators to death. Other than that I thought that the plot was well developed and characters were fleshed out. Like I said I wasn't expecting much from the book originally so I found it good.

    more from this reviewer

    An Adventurous Tale

"Threat From The Sea" is a pretty good read indeed. The story is fascinating and the author does a superb job at describing all things aquatic and bringing the sea and its inhabitants to life. My only qualms with the book is that the story ends so quickly. The building story is drug out for hundreds and hundreds of pages then the trilogy ends in a matter of a few chapters. Peace is restored in nearly a few pages and boom, the end. That said, though it is not really a good quality, it is not necessarily a bad one either. I myself began to realize the fact that a quick and abrupt ending was coming but I was not entirely disappointed about it. Yes, the ending could have been elaborated on much more, but the fact that the story is drug on and on for so long you begin to welcome any manner of ending at all. But all things in perspective I really enjoyed the story. I must say, the Battle of Waterdeep and the Battle for Baldur's Gate are both some insanely intense scenarios that I will definitely skip to and re-read again in the future. Enjoy!
