    Too slow

There is a lot of detail, but the action seems to take forever to get to. I could only read 16 pages, then scanned another 10 pages. Clearly, the author has talent, the details are excellent, but i couldnt relate to our hero and it was just to slow in forming. Give me a reason to read. Give me a reason to care....once this is done, then i will be rivited with the detail...

    Why?

It is difficult to understand the goal of this and other "Gender Switch Adventures" which appear under various byline deformations: Holly Philippa Lovecraft, Roberta E. Howard, Poula Anderson, Marly Shelley, Lee Brackett, Brandy Stoker, etc., apparently all pseudonyms of Tara Loughead. They seem to be simply word-for-word transcriptions of the originals (or, in this case, a portion thereof) revised to switch the genders of the characters. If this is an argument that gender doesn't matter, it's not convincing. The most interesting thing about this one is the cover: why is one of the musketeers naked? Can't say I don't like it, but I don't know of any edition of the original where this is done with the male musketeers.

    Poor

The story was slow. The gender orientation was not complete. Several times the author meant her but said him, etc. OK for free, but not worth anything else.

If the author had changed the main characters into women it woul

If the author had changed the main characters into women it would have been a much better book. Instead the author did a half ass job of just changing the sex of all the characters. If my table were uneven I might get the book just to prop up the table leg, but that would be the only reason to get it. This was a free book, but in retrospect I think I was over charged.
