Not many books have been written about the Three Stooges. Someday a comprehensive volume will be written about the slapstick trio. This book by Flemming isn't it. You know a book is going to be awful with a forward written by homophobic actor Mel Gibson. Getting past that it gets worse. The biggest problem with the book is that there is no reaserch whatsoever. The same boring stories are repeated here that have been written about more thoughtfully and better in other books. Flemming gives us nothing new about the Stooges, how they made thier movies, locations, comparing scripts to finished films or even deleted scenes. His lame filmography wonders with very little more than a few paragraphes of synopisis with no new facts about the shorts at all. More can be learned reading the back information of the Stoges video tapes than this book gives us. Flemming concerens himself with only the shorts, disregarding the Stooges feature work as nothing worth mentioning. Too much focus is on Curly as if he is the greaest comic ever. Not so. Shemp Howard and Joe Besser were better comedians than Curly could ever try to be. Also, nothing is mentioned of Shemps own two-reel series he made for Warner Bros. after leaving the act. There are numerous mistakes too, like refering to the book BEHIND THE STOOGES--THE WHITE BROTHERS as 'BEING' THE STOOGES-THE WHITE BROTHERS. Save your money folks, don't buy this book.

Title of review: The Three Stooges
Number of stars (1 to 5): 3
The three stooges are funny, and they will have you laughing! Its funny, but in some parts its boring. Its only funny in the middle of the book. Other than that it¿s a pretty good book. That¿s why it only has 3 stars.
Description and summary of main points
Their names are Curl, Moe, Larry, they make fun of each other all the time! They kick, push, and punch each other thro the whole book. But its only funny in the middle of the book
It¿s a little boring because its only funny in certain parts of the book.. it was a little slow in the beginning of the book..!
My final thoughts about this book was ok because like I said some of it was boring..
Your final review
I give this book 3 stars because in the beginning of the book it had no action at all!

Looks like Comedy III screwed this up too. This book is a complete waste of time and money. To call this the official authorized biography does a disservice to all 3 Stooges fans everywhere. Where did Comedy III find you, Mr. Fleming? I'm not sure but please go back there. Loaded with inaccuracies that could have been researched (ha-ha) in a matter of moments from far better books. By the way, Moe's son is named Paul and not Jeffery. This book cannot hold a candle to those written by Joan Maurer and the Lenburgs and if you want a true sense of what the Stooges were like, then those are the books I would recommend. Another big screw-up for Comedy III.Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
