Children's Literature
Author Sullivan has adapted this fast-paced action book from the movie "ThunderBirds." The story is about a group of people who call themselves the ThunderBirds. Their home base is on Tracy Island, which is the headquarters of International Rescue. Jeff Tracy, an ex-astronaut, founded this secret organization. He and his sons ride around in machines called Thunderbirds. A younger son named Alan Tracy wants to be a thunderbird, but his father insists he is too young and must stay in school. He and his friend Fermant get into trouble in school and find themselves trying to help the Thunderbirds when a villain called The Hood plans to destroy the Thunderbirds. Through harrowing adventures such as being throw into a deep freezer and maneuvering an old hover sled that gets out of control, Alan and his friends, who include Tin-Tin and agent Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward, try to outwit The Hood and save the International Rescue and the Thunderbirds' identities. All ends well when The Hood is captured and Alan, Fermat, and Tin-Tin receive their golden Thunderbirds wing emblems. Centerfold color photographs from the movie are included. 2004, HarperCollins Publishers, Ages 8 to 12.
