Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: Thomas Jacobsen, Pharm.D., M.S., R.Ph.(GlaxoSmithKline)
Description: This annually updated publication covers the management of the most common drug interactions.
Purpose: The pocket-sized book serves as a handy reference for healthcare professionals involved in patient care.
Audience: This book is written for anyone involved in the dispensing and/or therapeutic management of patients' medications regimens. The authors are both university professors who have international reputations in the field of drug-drug interactions.
Features: Nearly 3,000 drug interaction monographs are organized by the top 100 object drugs and subsequent precipitant drugs. Precipitant drugs are then classified into enzyme inducers or inhibitors. The significance of each interaction is classified numerically from highest (1) to lowest (5). A nice feature is the inclusion of herbal-drug interactions, which are not typically found in other pocket version texts.
Assessment: This useful reference easily fits into a lab coat pocket. It is not, however, an all inclusive reference and other more comprehensive texts should be consulted for interactions not cited in this book.
