3.5 familiar stars:   THE TRAINING is the third and final installment in Tara Sue Me’s  The Submissive Trilogy.  Originally written as a work of fan fiction based on the Twilight series, there are definite and parallel similarities to FSOG and many similar series of the same genre. The Training is as the title implies.  The storyline focuses on the training of Abby King to be Nathaniel West’s submissive but it is also the training of a man to become a lover and protector. Throughout the series the building relationship between Abby and Nathaniel has gone from Dom and sub to friends and lovers, but it is the lovers aspect that has thrown Nathaniel’s live into turmoil.  His relationship with all of his former subs has always been about business and sex but somewhere along the way, Nathaniel lost his heart to Abby King and he was looking forward to a HEA and a forever. The sexuality aspect of the storyline followed two distinctly different paths.  One venture into a sensual yet erotic fairy tale of a building love between two people destined to become a couple; the other focused on a definitive Dom/sub relationship where at times the dominant in Nathaniel West was in opposition to the man with whom Abby had fallen in love. And herein lies the issue-where does a Dom/sub relationship end and a friends to lover relationship begin? If you are a fan of FSOG, there is no denying the similarities but The Training is a more explicit storyline with a BDSM backdrop.  Where FSOG skimmed the lifestyle, The Submissive Trilogy and The Training brings the reader into the underground world of a Dom/sub lifestyle. The writing style, once again, is simple.  Some readers may question the heroine’s (Abby King) decision to become a sub especially when she readily accepts everything that is requested and demanded (with no prior training, experience or desire). The storyline does not cross into hardcore BDSM (unless nipple clamps and suspension ropes are not your thing) but saying that, each reader will take away a different aspect to the storyline premise and the lifestyle of which is represents.   And as I have said in a prior review for FSOG, who are we to judge a lifestyle that is different from our own.  This is after all a story of fiction that will make you think about what actually goes on behind the scenes of some of the most rich and powerful people in the world

In The Training (The Submissive Trilogy #3) by Tara Sue Me, Abby King is ready to give the role of submissive another try with Dominant, and now boyfriend, Nathaniel West. They've been through a lot struggling to find a balance between their physical relationship and the complex emotions they've developed for each other. Abby hopes they are on the right track now. But as she learns more about the lifestyle, she only hopes she can learn her role properly and not disappoint Nathaniel in the process. Abby worries about how her family and friends will react to her relationship with Nathaniel. She finds that the more comfortable she grows with their "playtime",the less she cares about what everyone else thinks. She is consumed with love for her boyfriend and craves praise from her Master. She knows their bond will only grow stronger when Nathaniel realizes he is capable of balancing his needs for Dominance as well as love. Businessman Nathaniel West appears to have it all, but he lost his beloved Abby once already and he's not letting her go a second time. He has to find the fine line between his Dominant side and fulfilling Abby's dreams romantically. His past has shaken his confidence in certain areas and he only hopes with Abby's help he can finally be both the Dom and boyfriend she needs and deserves. The Training is the third and final installment in The Submissive trilogy written by Tara Sue Me. This is, as you can obviously tell from the series name, an erotic romance. The tone of the book is a bit similar to Fifty Shades of Grey and The Crossfire series, but The Training, to me, delves a bit more in depth into the how's and why's of the Dom/sub relationship. I would caution that it would be best to read the series in order, so the subtleties of Abby and Nathaniel's relationship can be better understood. The writing style is very passionate and descriptive, both in the character's emotions and in their actions. It is very graphic, or maybe "detailed" is a better term, but not in a shocking way. There were a lot of tender moments and you can sense how much our protagonists truly love each other. I also really enjoyed how this switches back and forth from Abby's to Nathaniel's pov, which is a little different than some other erotic series I've read. I liked that it gave me a glimpse into not only what the submissive was thinking/feeling but also why the Dom made certain decisions. I think if you've wanted to try reading an erotic series but don't want it to be too over-the-top or "scary" because of the pleasure/pain factor, The Submissive trilogy would be a good one to try. The characters are very easy to relate to and there is a depth to their feelings that is intriguing and engaging. The Training wasn't overly dramatic with huge conflicts, but filled more with subtle shifts in feelings and with the power in their relationship. I also thought the love scenes were intense and very, VERY H-O-T. Definitely worth reading!

This is the conclusion to The Submissive trilogy. Abby and Nathaniel, are back in this book, and Abby is being trained as Nathaniel’s submissive, but there’s a slight problem. Nathaniel starts to fall for Abby, something he’d never do with one of his previous submissives. Will he be able to handle transitioning to the role of lover, friend, protector, from his previous role as Dom? Overall, this romance story, falls in the vien of our popular genre defining romances Fifty Shades of Grey and Crossfire series, the man is distance, cold, powerful and just wants sex, the difference in this one in how much we delve into the world of BDSM. This book has a lot more to it then FSOG did, so readers, if you are unsure, understand that this is a completely different lifestyle choice, and this isn’t just a vanilla sex book. The work is well written and researched, and the characters play their roles quite well. The scenes are very described, and stay true to that lifestyle. The main plot in the book is Abby & Nathaniel’s relationship, and how it’s going to develop, and where it’s going to go. We begin with submissive training, but really we’re just building on their relationship from previous  books. It did seem that they reached the end without as many twists and turns as we’re used to in this genre, but I think the characters are written well, and act honestly, and that really reflects on their love for each other, and the reason they are trying for their HEA. I didn’t read the earlier books before I read this book, but though I’m sure you’ll be thrown right back in with this book, even if you haven’t read the series, the author builds the characters so well, you arent’ at a loss. I suggest reading the whole series though, to get the whole feel for Abby and Natheniel’s relationship. I thought this was a wonderful book, and a change from the heavy hitting names we constantly hear in this genre. Tara Me Sue wrote a wonderful love story, that deals with a different lifestyle, but overall it’s the story of the love of two people, and what it takes to make it to forever! *I was given a copy in exchange for an honest review

Ugggghhh.... So bad... No plot... No story... 99% sex scenes... Very disappointed... With the content in this book... the significant content that is, These books could have easily been told in two books. The way it fip flopped between the main characters was distracting and at times confusing.. I surely hope this was the last one. I know it was for me...

A tall, dark-skinned girl with long black hair and dark eyes walked in, scanning the area. She had a dagger strapped to her belt, a bow and quiver slung over her shoulder, and was wearing an orange Camp Half-Blood T-shirt with jean shorts. Her hand rested gently on the hilt of her sword. "Hello," she said calmly. "My name is Jasmine. May I speak to your leader?"
