Overview

Telisa Relachik studied to be a xenoarchaeologist in a future where humans study alien artifacts but haven't ever encountered live aliens. Of all the aliens whose extinct civilizations are studied, the Trilisks are the most advanced and the most mysterious.

Telisa refuses to join the government because of her opposition to its hard-handed policies restricting civilian investigation and trade of alien artifacts, despite the fact that her estranged father is a captain in the United Nations Space Force.

When a group of artifact smugglers recruits her, she can't pass up the chance at getting her hands on objects that could advance her life's work. But she soon learns her expectations of excitement and riches come with serious drawbacks as she ends up fighting for her life on a mysterious alien planet.

The Trilisk Ruins is a science fiction adventure of 70,000 words and the first book in the PIT series.

I am always on the look out for new SF reads. This one has a new twist on SF adventures. The characters are not exactly heroes, but they are very realistic. You can connect with them as well as enjoy the storyline. McCloskey is an impressive writer.

A good start to what promises to be a great series. I'm looking forward to reading the next book. I have some critiques on some of the "Science" but other than that an entertaining story with really Alien Aliens!

The writing isn't top of the line, but the story makes up for it. Lots of action and some interesting concepts.

Exciting tale of rebellous resistance to governmental authority and alien technology.

Really enjoyed this one. Adventure enhanced by Science Fiction and not Horror. Characters are "real" people, humans and the bug as well. Looking forward to their next encounter/collaboration.

First book I've read by Michael McCloskey but it won't be the last. Well written. Enjoyed his lead characters and the story line. Enjoyable read.

This book contained all the elements I love - a distant planet, space travel, archaeology, first contact with an alien species, a fight for escape and survival. A great read.
