Meet the Author

I’ve always written stories for myself, but didn’t even think of being an author until I realised that being over thirty and living in a fantasy world was a little odd. Writing those same stories for other people makes it a lot more acceptable!By day I dress in cargo pants and boots for my not-so-glamorous job of making movies but at night I come home to my two little Princesses, in Johannesburg, South Africa, where I live, and I get to write Happy Ever Afters. Since I believe every girl is a princess, and every princess deserves a happy ending, what could be more perfect?

The Trouble with Mojitos opens with an intriguing, exciting story about pirates and long-ago fairy tale with an unfinished ending…waiting for something to break a curse.

Then we meet Rik and Kenzie. Kenzie is sassy and instantly drew me in with her take-no-crap personality. I loved her strength of purpose mixed with a touch of vulnerability. Rik jumps off the page as a possible modern-day pirate with some secrets to keep. I loved their dialogue with each other and internally too. Another aspect that was fun, which I adore in books when handled well, are the tweets between Kenzie and her roommate, Lee.

I loved this sweet, romantic story that had me caught up for a few hours in a far off, tropical setting! This is one of those books that just take you away from the realities of everyday life and leave you smiling in the end. I felt like there were a few parts that weren’t fully resolved or addressed in this book and although it’s part of a series, it can be easily read as a standalone. I’ll definitely be reading the next book, particularly when I need an easy, sexy escape!

The Trouble with Mojitos is such a great romantic story that would appeal to those that are looking for a new take of your typical “girl-meets-prince-kind-of-story.” This story has a more adventurous feel to it, and the setting is unexpected. I love how Romy Sommer describes the setting, it's very vivid and the interaction between Kenzie Cole and Rik is instant. But with an unexpected setting comes secrets as well and Rik is full of the. After been on exile, the former Prince decides to take refuge on an island (where he knows no one is going to give him trouble).

But on the night of his birthday, he meets film location scout, Kenzie Cole. From the start he is intrigued to find out more about her and the more time they spend together, the more he starts to feel wanted and not alone. As they set out to find the perfect film location, Kenzie can't deny the attraction that she has toward Rik, but they very well know that their time together is short. Nothing comes easy when it comes to loving someone, especially when that someone is a Prince.

From the minute I saw the cover, I immediately knew that I had to read this book and it didn't disappoint. The book flowed beautifully and the plot is fun to read. I recommend everyone to give this book a try, it has a mix of royalty and adventure all in one. :)

I recieved a copy of this book for an honest review
Kenzie is a location scout for a film company and in the Caribbean’s to find a good place for a pirate film. It could be her big break but after a few days of nothing but dead ends realizes she was sent on a wild goose chase and expected to fail. After a particularly bad day she finds herself at the bar drinking Mojitos with no one around but the bartender and a rather rude, very drunk man that claims he can get her audience with the mayor.
The drunk turns out to be a prince in exile and another broken man that Kenzie has the urge to fix, though she promised her best friend Lee she would not get involved with any more broken men.
This story is about Rik, Max’s older brother from the story Waking up in Vegas.  Rik found that he really wasn’t the prince of Westerwald and took off in hiding where he has basically been wallowing in self-pity. I absolutely loved Rik. He is one heck of a hot bad-boy, not your run of the mill knight in shining armour. He is unkempt at the beginning, a drunk, chauvinistic and full of himself. My kind of man!
There is plenty of hot sex later in the story, and a heart-warming scene of turtle hatching. I felt the book was worth reading just for that scene alone but the h whole book is awesome. There are a few twists that left me with my mouth hung open and the ending was awesome and now I’m ready for the next book.
I highly recommend this if you like a good romance with a bit of mystery, some hot sex, sexy Caribbean islands, Castles, forests, waterfalls and baby turtles.
