Small-town Texas isn't big enough for the both of them. . .or is it just right?
Sheriff Donovan "Deuce" Cowan has seen his share of trouble, but when he nearly hauls in Maressa Clarkson for speeding, he's suddenly in over his head. These days his long-lost high school classmate is calling herself Rainey Michaels and she sure hasn't come to Kasota Springs by accident. It seems the Los Angeles Deputy DA has chosen the West Texas town to hide out from a dangerous convict. It's all Deuce can do not to corral the sexy spitfire—in the name of keeping her safe, of course. Problem is, Rainey isn't letting anyone in on her big secret, least of all a hard-bodied, former pro-footballer sheriff with an overactive protective instinct. So now she's trying to keep him in line, one slow kiss at a time. . .

Phyliss Miranda created a fun, spunky, romance based in small town USA in The Troubled Texan. Maressa Clarkson is on the run from a serial killer. It doesn't matter that he is behind bars, someone on the outside is helping him and with the threats increasing she goes on the run with a new identity and career plan. The only problem with her plan is running into her high school crush, who just so happens to be the Sheriff of the small town she's plotted as her escape and he knows exactly who she is. The Troubled Texan is a quick, enjoyable and easy romance read. The characters ooze sass and witty banter making it flat out fun and entertaining. Donovan and Maressa's chemistry is electrifying with lots of sexual tension. I did find the resolution anticlimactic and rushed but there was plenty of personality to make you invested in the character's lives. The Troubled Texan isn't all fun and football games, it has a heart aching situations and some purely evil intentions. Don't miss The Troubled Texan! I received this ARC copy of The Troubled Texan from Kensignton - EKensington in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication March 6, 2014.
