Complete waste of time and money

This is without a doubt the worst book I've ever purchased. The positive reviews listed here are probably plants of the author. This book is so bad, I couldn't believe any reputable publisher would have anything to do with it. Then I looked to see who the publisher was and it all suddenly made sense. This is a self-published book (through a 'vanity press'). So just how bad could it be? First of all, the text section is only 94 pages long. The remaining 64 pages is a list of what is supposed to be wholesale distributors. Many of the websites listed for these are not valid. (The link for the author's own website doesn't work, either.) The links which do work are for businesses which would be entirely unuseful as a source of merchandise to sell on eBay. But does the book contain ANYTHING helpful or particularly insightful? Not a bit! The first thing you might notice about this book is that it does not have a table of contents (nor an index, for that matter). This makes sense, because there are no chapters in this book. Just 94 pages of ramblings, typographical errors, misspellings, misplaced headers and paragraphs, and seemingly plagiarized instructions. Lowy's big suggestion for making your ads stand out? Use all caps. Oh, yeah, that's exactly what makes YOU click on an ad, isn't it? Among his suggestions of what to sell: Your grandmother's chocolate chip cookie recipe. Lowy's 'success' examples currently do not have items for sale on eBay. Lowy seems to have an identity crisis when he describes how half.com works. In some places he refers to them as 'us,' as if he works there. Or, more likely, as if he copied down instructions word-for-word from their website and didn't even bother to change them into the third person. For example, he says, 'As soon as someone's bought one of your items, we'll send you an email.' In Lowy's closing comments, he says, 'Forget that your customers have a strong sense of fair play.' Did he even TRY to proofread this thing? It's not just a bad book. It's the ROUGH DRAFT of a bad book. If you want to learn about eBay, read their FAQ and you will easily learn much more than this book presents. Or buy any other book about eBay. Nothing could POSSIBLY be worse than this.

Appears to be an ebook on paper

I've never before felt compelled to write a book review, but this has to be said. This book appears to be an ebook that was haphazardly converted to hard copy. There is no table of contents. There is no index. There are no chapters. There are underlined terms that I imagine can be clicked in electronic format to provide definitions of unknown terms, but, of course, you cannot click a book page, and there is no glossary in the back. There is an appendix that is straight out of electronic format. It's a list of many companies, arranged alphabetically, so you don't know what each company does and how it may be able to help you. There's even an alphabet bar that you could click on if it were electronic. The appendix is referred to frequently in the text, but I've never been able to find the referenced information because of the alphabetical index format. Is there some good information in the book? I believe so, but you'll never find it when you need to refer to it, and it doesn't get into enough how-to, so you definitely will have to spend lots of time looking the information up from other sources. I would not recommend spending the money for this book--there MUST be more helpful books out there.

    Save Your Money!

I was very disappointed with this book. In addition to finding numerous mispelled words, there was one page where the same paragraph was repeated twice word for word. Aside from the errors, the information is pretty generic and vague. The only positive thing I can say about this book is that it does contain a list of wholesalers.

Truth about eBay: How to successfully sell part time or full time on eBay

After reading The Truth about eBay, and being somewhat skeptical because of some of the reviews I read, I feel that this book is very informative and straight to the point. It points out many useful and easy to follow techniques for selling on Ebay. I would recommend this to someone who wants to start an ebay business. Probably the negative review is from someone who wanted more of an advanced eBay book, although I feel that for someone with little or no experience when it comes to eBay that this book is great. Like I said, I am not an expert on eBay so I did find the information very useful and practical. Sometimes I feel that other eBay books start out assuming that the reader is already an expert when it comes to buying and selling on eBay.

    Highly recommended, very helpful.

I am a senior citizen and I have accumulated many things in my basement and in my garage. Some of those things are still in their original boxes. My wife urged me to get rid of all that we are not using anymore. A friend of mine came to the rescue. He told me that he has sold all his extras on e-Bay and he recommended to me that I buy the book The Truth about e-Bay by Donny Lowy. By following the book¿s every step I have sold many items at a fair price. I wish I would have more to sell. I have earned the price of the book over and over again. I am recommending it to all of my friends, keep up your good work. Sincerely, Aser Ancselovits

Truth about eBay: How to successfully sell part time or full time on eBay

I found this book to be a mine of information for the novice wanting to get set up with an eBay business. There's a wealth of complex information you need to absorb before you start on eBay, and this book outlines what you need to know in a very helpful way - as well as containing some essential warnings on dropshippers and some other really useful hints, such as ideas on how to advertise your business - not to mention the listing of wholesaler contact details. Well done, this book will sincerely benefit many people, I'm sure!

Truth about eBay: How to successfully sell part time or full time on eBay

I read your book 'The Truth About E-Bay on the advice of another and found that it is amazing. I have never considered myself a business person but found your book so clear and so informative that I would consider trying selling on e-bay myself. I have perused a number of these types of books before but they are all vague and don't give the practical guidance I would need. Your book is very different. Thank you for all the obvious effort you put into it.
