Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Praise for PLUTO VISITS EARTH! (written by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Jared Lee)
"The many folks who took the demotion of Pluto personally will find their love expressed here, while the scientific reasoning behind the unpopular descision is explained in a reasonable way. The simple, childlike text personifies planets and other space objects playfully." --BOOKLIST

Praise for DETECTIVE BLUE (written by Steve Metzger and illustrated by Tedd Arnold)
* "The madcap mystery will keep children--and adults--intrigued with tiny tips that point the detective and readers in the right direction." --SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL, starred review

"Metzger and Arnold display a consistent wit on every page." --PUBLISHERS WEEKLY

Children's Literature - Sylvia Firth
This is a rhyming tale about a group of turkeys taking a ride on a train. The journey begins when turkeys named Betty, Bill, and Jane board a train with their mother to travel from Fort Wayne to the state of Maine. The train is due to make a stop close to Lake Champlain. Along the way they play games, eat lunch, sing songs, and dance to the music of a rock and roll band. After arriving somewhere in Maine, the turkeys spend the afternoon sledding, skating, skiing, and having snowball fights. When it grows dark, they all re-board the train for the trip home. While the story is slight, the rhyming and the brightly-colored, cartoonlike pictures will appeal to young children in a story time setting. If other selections such as Sometimes It’s Turkey, Sometimes It’s Feathers by Lorna and Lecia Balian are not available, this paperback might be substituted. Reviewer: Sylvia Firth AGERANGE: Ages 3 to 5.
