    A Good Read...

If you like to read about TRUE drama, The Twelfth Man Standing is for you. Initially, I was drawn to this book because of the proximity of the chain of events. I did not know that I was in for so much more than just familiarity of where the story took place. The author himself, a member of law enforcement, was put in a very compromising position and proved that the truth will always set you free. As an enthusiast of crime and mystery, this work of non-fiction is a must read! Hats off to you Mr. Holmes for being true to yourself and for having the courage to tell your story...

Is he really telling the truth

The author would have you believe that he was an innocent party unknowing and unwillinly lured into an FBI sting operation. There is reason to believe that the author did not reveal the whole truth. He fabricated or changed some things around in order to make himself look like the good guy. This book is non-fiction. Be careful, the truth isn't always what it seems.

    powerful book

This is a great book. I first read it because it was about where I live, but once I did I realized that this was not just another book, this was a great book. The author allowed you into his life during the time all this was going on and how it truly effected him emotionally and physically. Even though he did the right thing he paid a heavy price for it. He doesn't make himself out to be a hero, but he makes himself to be human. I recommend this book for all to read. Once you do you too will be caught into the life of this one person.

    A TRULY GOOD READ

I am the president of the Women of Color Book Club I in Nashville, TN. I must say Michael Holmes book is by far one of the greatest non-fiction books I have ever read. It was definite a page-turner for me. I guarantee you once you begin reading the book it captivate your attention so quickly. Michael did a great job telling his story. It was very detailed. Michael has a courageous story to tell. We had the pleasure of hosting this great author on October 20, 2002 book club meeting. I truly commend Michael by doing the right thing and to prove that there are still good cops out there. When reading this book you can feel the betrayal and loneliness that Michael felt I recommend any police officers to read this book. Thanks Michael for sharing your story with us you have the Women of Club Book Club support.

    A Truly Powerful Story

This is a DYNAMIC well written story. Michael truly drew the reader into the story and made you feel what the characters, including himself, felt during the two year period of envy, betrayal, greed, and lonliness. A must read for everyone.

Emotionally charged from beginnig to end.

I was taken on a journey through hell from the depths of Michael's soul. I was enthralled with the writing skills. The story was so real to me. It was as though I was going through the turmoil with him. You will feel the envy, betrayal, anguish, disbelief, numbness, and the loneliness. I admire Michael for his code of ethics and his integrity. The Twelfth Man Standing is a must read for today's society.

A heart-felt, clear and accurate depiction of envy, betrayal, living the high life, emotional turmoil, COURAGE, and justice, all wrapped up in one!

I truly enjoyed reading this book. The author conveyed through his style of writing a very clear and accurate depiction of events. He allows you to vicariously live his experiences by feeling his emotional turmoil, the temptation he was faced with and the sacrfices that he made in the name of honor and righteuosness. There are several lessons to learn from this book. As a single parent preparing three males to be responsible, law abiding adults, I find this book to be a useful tool in assisting me. One can gain a sense of how difficult temptation can be, and how easy it can be to give into it. On the flip side, the author proves that there are still men of courage and integrity in a world that seems to be filled with anything but. I honor the author and wish him well. I love his style of writing and anxiously await his next book.

    A MUST READ

I founded Mr. Holmes book Twelfth Man Standing to be very well written. After meeting him at the Circle of Friends Book Club II meeting I was truly impressed. He was able to show how a good cop can do the right thing. Any law officers or those in this field, will find this book to be helpful as well as humbling. Thumbs up to you Mr. Holmes I founded your book to be interesting, because it is a true story, based out of Savannah, Ga. which is so close to Atlanta, this made it hit home how something of this nature could happen at our door step. Thanks for supporting our book club. Best of luck on any forth coming books.

Author Rightfully Earns title 'Twelfth Man Standing'

I am the president of COF II Book Club (Atlanta, GA) and we chose and read Michael Holmes novel 'Twelfth Man Standing' as our June reading selection and I must honestly say it was a very powerful and profound story. I commend Michael for standing up for (against MANY/ALL odds) what he knew was right. He could have easily gone with the majority, the fast money...the lavish living, the quick money...but he followed his heart and has now been blessed to put his experience down on paper for readers like us to read and enjoy. The book itself is very detailed and is written very well and deals with a very dark time of Michael's life (being a cop, then basically sold out by his best friend (also a cop) and then ultimately used by the FBI to uncover some really low down things that were going on in the department in which Michael was a part of). I don't want to spoil the story for those who hadn't read it but I assure you that you won't be disappointed with this book. It's a TRUE STORY of deception, integrity, morals and just plain old common sense....I highly and strongly recommend it to readers everywhere. I would also recommend it to any mothers out there raising BOYS....it's a story that will plant a seed in them for years to come.

    THE TWELFTH MAN

The Twelfth Man must be an outstanding individual. His faith in God and the justice system enabled him to endure years of mental turmoil. His book proves that all young black men are about more than money and drugs. Excellent book waiting on the sequel. I wish the author God's speed .

    Twelth man Standing is Outstanding

The book vividly describes a situation that leaves an outstanding young Savannah, Georgia police officer in a 'no win' situation and how he honorably dealt with it. This book shows how good cops can easily get lured into bad situations. It also lets the reader see that sometimes good people have to live with decisions made for the rest of there lives. A must read for new (and old) police officers. It brings to life the true meaning of the words 'duty, honor, country and sacrifice.' It also puts a twist on the 'To Protect and Defend' motto that many police departments so proudly display on the vast majority of their vehicles. It shows the reader that sometimes the honorably officer has to 'Protect and Defend' his/her own character when being placed in corrupt situations. ONE BAD APPLE DOESN'T SPOIL THE WHOLE BUNCH! OUTSTANDING BOOK!
