    The plot thickens...

    I read this book when it first came out ages ago and it's timeless! Mr. Dunne's character description and development are superb. I can almost feel the fabrics and smell the food as he writes. The characters become more captivating as the plot develops. Truly a magical novel...or are they real people he has known over his lavish career?! Delightful, and you won't want to put it down. You might also want to read his "An Inconvenient Woman" too.

    I tried to like Ann

    I really did try to like Ann but there is just something about her character that I found loathsome. She is self-centered, egotistical and narcissistic and I couldn't put the book down. Dunne pulls the reader into the book and makes one feel like a fly on the wall. When Ann finally gets what she wants she realizes it is not everything that she wants and she keeps on pushing and pushing and pushing until the climax of murder, lies and cover-up. I love the way Dunne weaves real history into his fictional books and once again he left me wondering....what happened next!
