This book must have taken an incredible amount of time to produce. Davis provides several versions of each tune, which you can tackle based on your playing ability. She also gives tips on how to roll one version into another to make your playing more interesting. I'm still a beginner, but needed a little more variety and technique than basic books were giving. This was a very clear, inspiring book. Thanks, Janet Davis! (Also includes one song with guitar accompaniment (Dueling Banjos), so you and a guitar friend can play together. Also includes helpful CDs. Most songs are in G, with some in A and others tuned differently. I will learn a lot from this book!

I'm a retired beginner/intermediate student written to my instructor: "The Ultimate Banjo Songbook, 26 Favorites for 5-String Banjo" by Janet Davis is the title. It has 26 music titles for a half dozen different genres. The tableture is well (clearly) written. Some of the songs have two or three different variances and different licks broken out. The book has two CD's which the author identifies CD No. and associated track(s) for each song. It looks like it has something for intermediate and above levels of players.

Another great, diversified, instruction book from the folks at Hal Leonard Publishing, Corp with a special thanks to Janet Davis for the arrangements. 26 great tunes arranged in a variery of picking styles for all skill levels of banjo players, whether you prefer waltzes, Spanish rhythms, western swings, ragtime, or tradional bluegress style, each song is written in standard TAB notation with more than one version per song. Most songs written in major and/or minor keys, contains lyrics and history notes for each song, plus the 2 CD set has all versions of the songs ready for practice and sing/play along. Plus, as an added bonus, most songs include special sections of alternate beginnings, endings, and main licks and riffs. So grab the book, tune up your banjo, and let's mix it up and start 'pickin' and 'grinning'...DEO...}:)>
