Overview

The definitive biography, now updated to include the tragic death of Maurice Gibb in February 2003.

The Bee Gee's journey from Fifties child act to musical institution is one of pop's most turbulent legends.

Barry, Maurice and Robin Gibb somehow managed to survive changing musical fashions and bitter personal feuds to create musical partnership that has already lasted four times as long as The Beatles.

Described by the authors as their objective tribute, this unflinching biography chronicles everything - the good, the bad... and the bushed-up.

Youthful delinquency, disastrous marriages, bitter lawsuits, gay sex scandals, serious drug problems and the death of younger brother Andy have sometimes made the personal lives of the Brothers Gibb look as bleak as the low spots of a career that once reduced them to playing the Batley Variety Club.

Yet every time the Bee Gees roller coaster seemed derailed for good, they recorded and went on to even greater triumphs.
Today they are among pop music's all-time greats, legendary performers, producers and songwriters. But the true story of their success and the high price they paid for it has never been fully revealed... until now.

Well, I only gave this a good because the Bee Gees tell their ow

Well, I only gave this a good because the Bee Gees tell their own story and there were some interesting things in this book. I agree with some of the other reviews that it just jumps all over the place and doesn't follow a timeline. There's a lot about the music, which, of course ,there should be because the music is their life, their love, but I didn't enjoy the leaps back and forth through time.
I found it slow reading and a bit boring at times, but there are definitely some parts that were enjoyable. If you love the music and the Bee Gees, it's rather nice to read about their childhood, etc.

A FEAST FOR ALL MUSIC FANS!

This was a great read! As you see their incredible catalog unfurl in front of you one cannot help but be awed by the immeasurable contribution the Brothers Gibb have made to popular music and our culture. I found their personal journeys and evolution as men and a band fascinating. It is unfortunate these gentlemen have been overlooked and underrated by so many for so long. Fortunately, the tides are turning and new generations are starting to discover - and appreciate - the immense contributions of the Gibb family.
