Children's LiteratureA guide book to science written for girls and about girls by two young women who think that science is a girl thing! Eight of the ten chapters give overviews of specific fields of science from animal and plant biology to physics and engineering. Each chapter features a brief biography of a famous woman scientist and real girls telling readers why they love science. There are interesting facts, instructions for to-do-at-home experiments, descriptions of career possibilities, many quizzes to find out if "science is for you." The book is illustrated with black and white drawings as well as photos of women scientists and today's girls discussing their love of science. The last chapter lists multiple websites with further information on science careers, science camps and organizations, women in science and much more. There is an extensive bibliography, but no index. 2003, Beyond Words Publishing, Ages 9 to 14.
