The Unlikely Detective: and Look Into My Eyes
H. A. Bryant thrills again in Number 5 in the Matt Kelly series.

A Tokyo psychiatrist is the victim of a hit-and-run outside his office, and suspicion immediately falls on one of his patients, whom Hisashi Kimura must defend. The case takes a dangerous turn when evidence surfaces, connecting the deceased doctor to a top-secret government mind-control project.

A young man, the ideal subject for such manipulation, is programmed to assassinate the leading candidate for Japan's prime minister. As the assassin closes in, other government agencies uncover the rogue program. Hisashi's client, the accused killer, appears to hold the key to unraveling the conspiracy.

But the assassin is programmed to eliminate any threat to himself or the project—a directive that includes Hisashi and his wife, Megumi.

About the Author

The author’s journey began with a four-year stint (1968-1972) stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, while serving in the U.S. Navy. During this time, his home base was on two 7th Fleet Flagships.

Following his military service, the author embarked on a nine-year academic adventure. He enrolled at Sophia University (Jochi Daigaku) and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics. Fueled by a passion for language education, he continued his studies at Aoyama Gakuin University, where he obtained a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) degree.

His academic pursuits were more than just theoretical. He landed a practical role as an instructor/trainer at an English language agency. This position allowed him to hone his skills while directly contributing to the success of various medium and large-sized corporations through English training, interpretation, and translation services.

Through his extended stay in Japan, the author gained a deep understanding of the intricacies of Japanese business practices and the societal norms that shape Japanese culture.

After returning to the United States in 1981, he leveraged his expertise by working as a technical writer and later transitioned to a Documentation Manager role within the high-tech industry.

Since his 2015 retirement, the author has dedicated himself to writing thrillers set in Japan, a country that captivated him, and has successfully produced a number of novels.
