Perfect for a first-timer. It gave lots of great tips and I'm glad I read a lot of this before we went. Very well-researched information. Although I didn't gamble much at all, the information on gambling was very informative. We did see some shows and that was very valuable information.

We purchased this book for a recent trip to Las Vegas (Oct/Nov 2009). Even though this was our third trip, we wanted a guide to help us find new things to do and the landscape of Vegas tends to change every other year. It is by far the most informative up to date book we have found. Although some information in the forward regarding new hotels in incorrect due to the turn in economy. But for the most part, individuals who buy this book are not interested in the up and coming new expensive hotels anyway. We all seem to be more budget conscious if we are interested in buying this book. It has a great detailed section of hotels and casinos and what each offers from the high-end Wynn down to the most budget friendly Holiday Inn. This book also has an absolutely great food review section. It takes each section of Vegas and gives you pricey to budget suggestions on where to eat, what you get for your money and so forth. A lot of restaurants we tried came from the suggestions in this book! The guide also has a great section on day-excursions, the shows (which ones to see and which ones to pass on) and even a small section on gambling tips. It is a must for any person considering a trip to Vegas and who wants great restaurant ideas and budget friendly tips

Some years ago I bought a Las Vegas travel book and to this day I still have pages folded over. But since Las Vegas hotels & restaurants change every year I thought it was time to buy a new book. This is not what I wanted. I was looking for a book that suggested the best places to visit, the cheapest places to eat, the best casinos, etc. This was not a comprehensive book at all. I wouldn't even recommend this book for first time goers to Vegas because it mentioned more of the expensive places. I have had more luck surfing the internet than reading this book.
