I don't know about this free download but the cook book is great! We had Harry Potter dinner night before we went to see part one, the stew was wonderful! I have made it many times since the first night and my family loves it. My son had lots of fun looking up the stories in his books to go along with the recipes in the cook book. I would highly recommend this book to all Harry chefs!

I am not a Harry Potter fan, but money is tight enough that I can't be picky about my reading materials; it was free, so I tried it. I was pleasantly surprised. The recipes are easy to follow and the Potter references are light enough that I wasn't entirely baffled. The foods are classic English Holiday foods, and I liked the little bit of back history. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in learning how to make these types of foods, regardless of the pop culture hook. Well written and straightforward.

In response to another review - I myself had to download it twice. As for the contents - it's just disappointing. This is just a sample so I suppose if you buy the whole thing that might be better, but this isn't worth the time it takes to download. The recipes are ones you can find anywhere and are related to Harry Potter in the weakest sense of the word. For example, instead of say, cauldron cakes, or something like that, one of the recipes is mashed potatoes. These aren't Harry Potter food originals. These are everyday foods mentioned in the novels. If J.K. Rowling mentioned bread, a recipe for bread is what you'd get in this book, and in fact, there is one.

The free download is only part of the book and only contains a few recipes, nothing to get worked up about.

Disclaimer: not for beginners, cheaters, quick fixes or the faint of heart. This is the real deal. All recipes are made entirely from scratch with little to no shortcuts. Of course that means that many of the recipes take lot of extra care and time to make but it also means that the finished products are BOSS. Not exactly for beginners so proceed with caution! There are recipes that will take multiple tries and there are a couple that I've sworn never to revisit due to frustration. Most recipes are complicated but not impossible. That being said, this cookbook is awesome! We have found so many new family favorites and it adds some extra flavor (wink) when reading the books. Well worth the effort and time you put into it! Our personal favorites are the meat pies. A great addition to the fandom and my kitchen! As well as fantastic recipes, this book also includes tidbits of the history of whatever dish you're preparing. And of course there are references to the books so you can revisit favorite scenes and feast right along with the Golden Trio. P.S. Please don't buy just as a novelty! Don't be afraid to try your hand at some authentic homemade brit dishes!

I love harry potter. Have not made anything yet. Sounds yummy though. I also like star wars, and they make cook books for that as well. I dont know if its on ebooks yet. ~ The star wrs harry potter fan There is an incresingly alarming growth of people who have a crush on Draco Malfoy (I am not one of them, thank goodness)

This book doesnt include a whole lot, though well recommended for for the dollar I got it for. Yes these arent really "magical" but pretty tasty for original recipies! There are also some refrences as to where in the harry potter books the particular recipie is. I was looking for a recipie for butter-beer (it does exist somewhere) and this is not included in here, just for those who were looking like me.

This book talks about Harry Potter and history. Some of the books for free I hate but not this one. Harry Potter fan or not you shold use this cookbook to make your holiday food just as cheery as the hoidays themselves.

I've read some previous reviews which said that they were they were not expecting what they saw. So I got it, not really expecting anything. It is a cookbook yes, but of recipes that are more "muggle" than I originally thought it would be. What I really wasn't expecting was that it's more of a preview or a 22 page sample of the whole book. You are a lot better off just shifting through this first and deciding if you want to pay for the whole thing or not. I personally don't think it's worth the money if you really want recipes of specifically HP-related such as Butterbeer & Pumpkin Juice

This has absolutely nothing to do with Harry Potter and makes no attempt to even try to relate to Harry Potter at all. The recipes are simple and lame who wants a recipe for mashed potatoes, or glazed carrots?!?! It may be free but it's not worth cluttering up your library

This is not the whole book....The recipes in it are ok but is does not seem like it is really about Harry just an English cook book. Hey it's free....
