This is a collection of 24 poems about personal self-discovery, written in a reflective and magical self-dialogue from a healing woman who is working through her own childhood pain and abuse.

About the Author

Carrie Zaloga is 28 years old and grew up in a divorced and remarried household in Smyrna, Delaware; quickly learning what the value of family was after experiencing child abuse. Raised on strong Christian faith by her mother, unable to reveal the truth in her own home, Carrie always questioned God’s plan and her trauma that happened as a child. Moving away at 18, she began searching for answers by exploring the very many arenas of Eastern and Western religion as well as self-healing consciousness.
With a strong affiliation for nature and animals, plus a desire to help change the world, Carrie graduated from Salisbury University in Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies & Mental Health. Environmental Studies is a multidisciplinary field which examines human interaction with the environment in fields of ethics, geography, anthropology, politics, urban planning, social justice, land use planning, pollution control, and resource management. With this new found mindset, she was able to form a connection with the natural environment, the built environment, and the relationship between them.
Carrie has been a Conservation Educator, a State Parks Naturalist, a Kayak Instructor, and Live Animal Handler at two different zoos. In Highschool, she started work at 13, assisting at a local vet's office and later to work full time at a pet store before leaving for college. Carrie also has a strong love for the Arts, currently working as a private Italian Ice-cream Chef and self-published writer.
Carrie currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her small family Anthony and Yuki. She enjoys the thrill of living in a different city every few years and exploring new urban spaces. You can always find Carrie out on a nature trail, riding her fixed gear bike, rollerblading, making ice-cream, painting, or contemplating existence.
