AN INDECENT PROPOSAL

Lady Alexandra Hobbs, the daughter of the Duke of Huntley, has intended to marry Lord Owen Monroe since she first glimpsed him from the window of her bedchamber, back when she was just a girl. But the duke has already chosen Alex’s infamously spoiled elder sister, Lavinia, for Owen. And now there’s no turning back.

Owen has spent most of his bachelor years drinking, gambling, and skirt-chasing. He won’t see another pound from his parents, however, until he’s engaged to Lavinia. Desperate, he accepts an offer from her innocent and spirited—and absolutely beautiful—sister Alex: She will turn him into a perfectly tamed suitor, and show him how to woo the shrew. But when Alex’s true motives come to light, will their bargain lead to recriminations—or to a romance that defies everyone’s expectations?

Bowman’s Playful Brides Regency series (after The Irresistible Rogue) is inspired by classic works of literature; this charming fifth episode draws on Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Lord Owen Monroe, heir to the Earl of Moreland, is one of London’s most well-known rakes until his father orders him to settle down. The earl expects him to woo Lady Lavinia Hobbs, eldest daughter of the Duke of Huntley, a woman who, though beautiful, has a reputation for being somewhat of a shrew. Lady Alexandra, Lavinia’s younger sister, has been in love with Owen for years and fears that he will be forced to wed her sister. In an effort to spend more time with Owen, she asks him to help make her a success in London’s ballrooms, and in exchange, she will help him win Lavinia’s heart. But some of the suggestions she gives to Owen will cause Lavinia to dislike him more, and Alexandra hopes that he will turn to her instead. The cleverly executed reappearance of characters from earlier installments adds allure to the innocent romance and carefully orchestrated seduction. Readers will be especially drawn to Alexandra, a refreshingly open and honest woman. Agent: Kevan Lyon, Marsal Lyon Literary. (May)

In love with one sister, betrothed to the other—what's an earl to do? Usually when sisters fight over a beau, they're both mad for him, but that's not the case for the Hobbs sisters. Lady Alexandra has quietly carried a torch for the roguish Lord Owen Monroe since her teens; her older sister, Lady Lavinia, can't stand him, but her father has arranged for them to marry. Owen has no interest in marrying either, but his father tells him he must not only marry Lavinia, but woo her—or else lose his allowance. After a case of mistaken identity, Owen stumbles into an agreement with Alexandra: she'll tell him how to win Lavinia, and he'll help raise her profile on the marriage market. Soon, Owen is as besotted with Alexandra as she has been with him, but the arranged marriage looms—unless Owen can find a way to marry the sister he truly loves. In the fifth book in The Playful Brides series, Bowman's characters are a bit flat, with spoiled Lavinia barely kinder than Cinderella's stepsisters and Owen bearing the tight breeches and confusion of the average Regency hero, but they're still endearing. Luckily, the plot and ending are satisfying, and Alex earns her place among the ranks of perfectly awkward romance heroines. A sweet and simple Regency story of unrequited love, requited.

I really enjoyed book #5 of this Playful Brides series. Ms. Bowman's characters all well rounded and gave me a clear picture of in my mind of who these characters really were. From the beautiful but hateful and selfish older sister Lavinia, whose parents are dead set on her marrying Lord Owen Monroe , the image of a truly ugly & mean spirited person comes to life.. She really made her younger & insecure sister Alexandra's life a living hell. But luckily, the hero of this story, Owen, a rake and a debaucher and who the sweet, caring and very pretty Alexandra has been in love with for 3 years, realizes that Alexandra was the one for him. He knows the self-centered Lavinia who he has been forced to court, and who never really wanted him in first place, is nothing but a headache and an obstacle to his and Alex's happiness. Owen also knows he needs to redeems himself when he finally realizes he wants to be a better man for himself and for the one person who always knew he had greatness in him. All of the main characters had depth and I got the sense that I knew who they were. Also, a few Playful Bride old friends & their significant others appear in this book to help bring Owen & Alex together.

I loved and enjoyed reading the amazing and captivating, fascinating and engaging historical romance novel by the best selling author Valerie Bowman. I received an ARC from a Goodreads Giveaway. Lady Alexandra Hobbs has been in love with Lord Owen Monroe since she was a young girl but Owen is suppose to marry Alexandra's older sister, Lavina. Owen is suppose to make Lavina fall madly in love with him before he marries her but Lavina won't have anything to do with him. Lady Alexandra comes to Owen's aid and makes a deal with him. Alexandra will help Owen in how to win Lavina's heart as long as Owen helps her become the Belle of the Ball. As Alexandra and Owen spend more time together, both of them succumb fight their attraction and feelings for each other. Read the highly recommended, must read, wonderfully written love story of Alexandra and Owen.

Ms. Bowman has made me fall in love with love all over again. She took two of my favorite stories, My Fair Lady and Can't Buy Me Love and turned them into the perfect regency adaptation of romance. Forgotten sister Alex dreams of her one true love are dashed by her father's machinations. Owen's carefree existence has just gotten complicated. Faced with ultimatums and an impending engagement he seeks help from an unlikely source. I received an ARC of The Untamed Earl by Valerie Bowman from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Of course it was predictable, but that was part of the charm. This story will make you believe that dreams really do come true.

I am no stranger to Valerie Bowman or her Playful Brides series. I have had the pleasure of reading a couple others in this series. I was anticipating this one. This series as an apt name. Playful was most certainly the experience that I have had with these delightful ladies from Regency England. Lady Alex proposal was called indecent. I call it going for what she really wants. She gets her hearts desire if things go right. Seeing that she was to be cheated of the one true desire of her heart. Lady Alex plots to make sure that things don't go astray. In comes her proposal to Lord Owen. Being told to straighten up and do right was not exactly what Lord Owen was looking for when he awake this day. Now he has to woo the shrew. With the help of the shrew in questions younger sister. He is on the path to do just that or so he thought. I found this to be fun and entertaining. Lady Alex makes all the difference. She has a child's love when she falls for Lord Owen but during the process of making he acceptable to her sister. She develops womanly affection and a woman's love. Aptly appropriate historical romance. **This ARC was provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.**

I really enjoyed this story! Alexandra is hilarious and had me laughing out loud at the things she did and said. I really enjoyed watching Owen try to force himself to find something to like about the woman he was suppose to marry. Of course, it didn't help that Alexandra was giving him bad info! Love the two of them together! Once again, Bowman wrote a story that had me wanting more of this series!! I can't wait for book 6 to come out!! Thanks go out to St. Martin's Press via NetGalley for a copy of the book in exchange of an honest review.

I really enjoyed this story by Valerie Bowman! It is the fifth book in her Playful Brides series. Alexandra Hobbs has loved Lord Owen Monroe since she was fifteen and she witnessed him standing up for her brother and his friend against some much older bullies. She wrote his name in her journal promising herself that some day she would marry him. Years later finding him to be the gentleman that her parents have chosen to be her sister's intended has set Alexandra on a plan to get him to fall in love with her as he finds out that he has absolutely nothing in common with her sister, let alone even liking her. Owen isn't surprised that his father has pushed him into marriage, but he is surprised that he isn't allowing him to choose a young lady on his own. As he is trying to do what his father asks of him, he finds that he is attracted to Alexandra not her sister. In fact he can barely stand being in the same room with her. As the date gets closer Owen soon realizes that he has fallen in love with Alex and needs to tell her and both of their fathers that a marriage between them is the only marriage that he will be part of, but Alexandra's sister has other plans. Will her interference destroy their relationship or pull them closer together? I was given an ARC for an honest review. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

I had so much fun reading this book! How is it I haven't read anything in this series (or by this author, even more shameful!) before? If I hadn't been without Internet the entire time I read it, I would have added the rest of the series to my TBR before I was halfway through, because though this one worked fine as a standalone, you hear enough about the exploits of the heroines of books 1-4 that you have to find out their stories too... The Untamed Earl flirts a bit with being a Taming of the Shrew story, though it's not quite. It's also a bit of an homage to Pygmalion, though again, not exactly. As an impressionable fifteen-year old, Alex witnessed Lord Owen Monroe going entirely against his worthless rake image and being a good guy--and fell for him on the spot. Fast forward three years--and she's aghast to learn that her parents intend to marry her shrewish (except to call her that is doing a disservice to shrews everywhere) older sister to him. So she hatches a plan...which gets even more convoluted and complicated when Owen's younger sister Cass ( heroine of The Accidental Countess ) and her well-meaning but excessively meddling friends get involved... Owen's spent more than half of his life trapped within the weight of his father's disappointment in him, to the point where he has pretty much given up on ever making something of himself. If he's bound to be nothing but an eternal disappointment, why even try? But Alex makes him think he just might be able to be a better person, if only to live up to the image she has of him...or is it too late to change the habits of half a lifetime? (Of course it isn't! But Alex has her work cut out for her, trying to get him to see it.) So, so good. Though Alex probably should not have listened to even half of Lucy's (heroine of The Unexpected Duchess ) harebrained suggestions, they sure did make for some amusing reading. Even before Cass and her friends get involved, there were so many laugh out loud--not to mention downright swoony--moments while I read this (one of the best first kiss scenes ever! It gave me chills), I knew it was destined for the keeper shelf for sure. And then I got to the ending! Sigh... :) Did I mention how much I loved this book? Rating: 4 1/2 stars / A I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Totally unacceptable work from the usually dependable Ms. Bowman. Unbeliveable, slow-moving. Early promise that fell flat and that unfortunately was just promising enough that I wasted several hours reading and hoping for a save. What a disappointment. Save your money and hope Ms. Bowman snaps out of this slump. Wait for the next one and hope for better.

Second daughter, and second in her parent’s attention, Alexandra has recently had her debut, and has set her eye on one man. Only two things stand between Alex and her wishes, well 3 actually. Her older sister Lavinia, takes pride of place and affection with her parents, and she must wed before Alex can seriously entertain an offer. Lavinia is a shrew: spoiled, self-centered and entirely unlikable, she’s that sister you can’t wait to get rid of. Lastly there is Owen: years ago Alex set her sights on him, but he is being ‘brought into line’ in an effort to reform his rakish behavior, and arrangements have been made for him to wed Lavinia. Without this marriage, Owen will find himself unsupported and cut off from the funds a gentleman of his stature would require. Alex truly stole this story – she is diabolical in her maneuvering of Owen as she “helps him” to win Lavinia’s favor. And poor Owen, Bless his little heart, he sees that Alex is so wonderful, witty and clever, and he likes her – but he also worries about his past and his less than honorable behaviors, that perhaps Alex is ‘too good’ for him. Like many men of this era, it takes a strong and determined woman, unafraid of a little guile and carefully planned togetherness to show him that the best decision is the one she wants made. Bowman has created some truly clever heroines in this series – intelligent, witty and thoughtful, the stories are light and not to taxing on the surface, but beneath the fun story are women, particularly Alex, who are formidable in their determination to have a major part in determining their own destinies. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Valerie Bowman's The Untamed Earl What an exciting read!!! The book was captivating and extremely well written. The descriptions were vivid with solid scene that made me feel as if I were there with the characters. There is a good blend of adventure, twists and turns, deceit, trickery, drama, loyalty, regret, unpredictable events, plotting plus romance. This book has some very humorous, very touching and moving scenes. The main characters have a dynamic relationship between them but a hugh barrier. Lady Alexandra Hobbs is the second daughter of the Duke of Huntley. At an early age, she fell in love with Lord Owen Monroe when he helped her brother and the stable boy from a group of ruffians. She has just learned that her father has arranged a marriage between her older spoiled sister. What will she do? Will Alexandra be able to step into the Situation and turn things in her favor? The characters are all vivid, well defined and add to the story. This is the fifth book in Valerie Bowman’s The Playful Brides Series. It can be read as a stand alone with no difficulty Thank you to the author for this book. My opinion is my own.

I received an ARC copy from the author for a honest review. Valerie Bowan is one of my favorite authors. The Untamed Earl is the 5th book in the Playful Bride series. Lady Alexandra Hobbs fell in love at the age of 15 with a stranger that came to the rescue of Will, a friend of her brother Thomas. That stranger was Lord Owen Monroe. Lady Alexandra had been making a list of the principle things she hoped to accomplish, including marrying her true love. She had written, name to be determined later, which she crossed through and added Lord Owen Monroe. Lord Monroe is to be betrothed to Lady Lavina Hobbs, Lady Alexandra's sister. Lord Monroe is to woo Lady Lavina into falling in love and choosing him as her husband. You won't be able to put this book down, how will Lady Alexandra win Lord Monroe from her sister?

Alex has been in love with Owen since she was a girl but unfortunately Owen has been promised to her sister Lavinia. Alex offers to help Owen woo her shrew of a sister, but what will happen when he decides he wants Alex instead. I like both Alex and Owen they were fun and had great chemistry. This is a fun historical read.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. This is book five in the "Playful Brides" series by Valerie Bowman. I have been jumping around in the series so I do feel this is a standalone book. Lady Alexandra Hobbs fell in love with Lord Owen Monroe the first time she saw him out her window helping her brother and the stable boy with two younger men trying to fight them. Ever since she has been dreaming of marring him. But in the present day she learns that her father and his father are making a contract that will force Owen to marry her older spoiled and mean sister. Alex sister doesn't want him but Alex tries to derail Owen from winning her sisters affections. Owen start to see Alex and her sister are very different and starts to look toward Alex. This was a really great read that was funny, emotional and loving. I loved this book! Valerie Bowman writes fun, enjoyable romances. Lady Alexandra fell in love with Lord Owen when she was 15 and saw him do a good deed from her bedroom window. She is the middle child and her older sister gets all of the attention. Now Alex is old enough to have her debut and she's devastated when her father plans for Owen to marry her sister. Owen has been told by his father to stop running around and get married. There is much more to Owen than his rakish reputation and Alex sees that. With help from Owen's sister, Cass, and her friends Alex plots to spend time with him. No plot spoilers from me! I couldn't put this one down. Thank you Valerie Bowman for the ARC. If there was ever a song for a book, this one would be Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Look At Little Sister"!

I received an ARC paperback from the author for a fair and honest review. Valerie Bowman continues to produce funny, warm-hearted, loving couples that have you sitting on the edge of your seat until the end. This is the story of Lady Alexandra Hobbs, the daughter of the Duke of Huntley and the younger sister of Lavinia who is spoiled, shrewish and always given everything she wants. When Alexandra was 15 she fell in love with Lord Owen Monroe who protected a stable boy from 2 rogues. Lord Owen is ordered by his father to woo Lavinia and become engaged to her within a month. When Owen realizes the difficulty, he enlists the aid of her sister. Alex has alternate plans to make Owen fall in love with her. Owen realizes from the first moment that Alex is special but must decide if love is enough to go against his father. This is an absolutely wonderful story.

The Untamed Earl, book five in Valerie Bowman’s Playful Brides series, was just the right amount of romantic and fun with a dash of throat lumping thrown in for good measure. This author does a wonderful job of taking a young girl’s fanciful infatuation and transforming it into genuine love years later. A hero and heroine consigned by their families to roles of little regard find their worth in each others eyes and hearts. With no shortage of humor, kindness, malintent and misunderstandings Ms. Bowman shows her writing at its best on the pages of The Untamed Earl! *I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* *While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*

This is an engaging historical romance and part of a series but I can vouch that it works well as a standalone as I haven’t read any of the others – yet – and thoroughly enjoyed this! As a teen, Lady Alexandra Hobbs had been told to stay in her room during a ball celebrating her older sister’s first season as a debutant. It was whilst listening to everything going on that she heard her brother and his friend being threatened by two guest. Undaunted she shouts at the two older men from her bedroom window and gets her first glimpse of Lord Owen Monroe who intercedes on her behalf and, like a hero, rescues the two friends and admonishes the young bullies. That’s when she decided to marry him. Unfortunately, several years later, it is her spoilt sister who her parents have decided will marry him. Owen has a reputation as a gambling, womanising drinker but his father has had enough of such behaviour and now has demanded that he makes Lady Lavinia Hobbs agree to marry him. Lady Lavinia is horrid and won’t really give him the time of day, let alone fall in love with him! Alex offers to help him win her sister’s affections providing he helps her become more popular rather than the wallflower she currently is at any society events. As the two get to know each other, her teenage crush develops into womanly love and she challenges his attitudes, beliefs and aspirations whilst he develops more pride in himself and determines to make more of his life. He, however, is convinced he’s not good enough for her . . . This is a brilliant story with a host of great characters – especially the scheming young women! It has many laugh out loud moments and keeps the reader entertained throughout, a real page turner and fun, too. I’ll definitely be looking out for other novels by this author in future – including other books in this series! Thanks to the publishers for gifting me an ARC of this novel, via NetGalley, in exchange for my honest review.

Lord Owen Monroe, has been a man who by all appearance only cares about life's pleasures, but he has hidden depths that the world does not see beyond his rake reputation. His father has had enough of his frivolous ways, he want Owen to settle down with a very specific woman, Lady Lavinia Hobbs. Lavinia happens to be the most spoiled and heartless woman of any of the debutantes. While Owen does not want to marry her, he must otherwise he will be cut off from his allowance. Lavinia's parents demand that their marriage will be a love match, and that she must consent to marrying him. Of course, Lavinia has no desire to ever marry Owen. To try to win the heart of this shrew of a woman, he accepts an offer of help from Lady Alexandra Hobbs, the younger sister of his intended. Of course, she is secretly in love with Owen - for years! Not that he remembers meeting her. She is everything her sister is not, caring, loving, humorous, and of course beautiful in an "unfashionable" way. Alex has always been put on the back burner with all of her sisters demands. I love that the little sister finally gets what she wants! This is a fun romance, with some more of Bowman's hilarious hi-jinks. These ladies always manage to get into trouble.

I truly enjoyed everything about this book. The main characters and secondary characters were so much fun and witty. Lady Alexandra "Alex" was a truly charming character and someone I'd love to be friends with. Lord Owen was dashing, debonair and a good hearted hero even if only his sister and friends knew. Lord Owen's father tells him he's to marry and he has his bride picked out for him. If not he's cut off! There's only one catch, he's to make her fall in love with him first. She wants a love match. He enters into a unusual pack with his intendeds sister Alexandra to win her affection. Oh and there's another catch...Lady Alexandra has loved him since she was 15. What insues is a hilarious tale and a beautiful romance. My only complaint is that it was a little long I think Ms. Bowman could of shortened it with out taking away from the story.

The Untamed Earl by Valerie Bowman is #5 in the "Playful Brides" series, but can be read as a stand alone. Based on William Shakespeare's play "The Taming of the Shrew". A light-hearted tale with a few giggles, a smile or two, witty dialog, a selfish, cruel elder sister, redemption of an Earl, and a unconditional heroine. To say the characters are flawed, is an under statement. The heroine, Alexandra (Alex), can't marry until her elder sister is wed. Alex eavesdrops on her parents and doesn't like what she hears. So she sets out to flaunt their plans. Yes, she devises a plan, a lie or two may be told and with all good plans, the best laid plans often go awry. Add in some unconventional friends, from the previous series, and oh me, plans definitely go awry. The hero, Lord Owen Monroe, is being forced to marry Alex's elder, spoiled sister, Lavinia, by his father, with the threat of losing his allowance. Of course, Owen is a rake, gambler, drunkard, has a good heart, only few know of, and many other flaws, but Alex has loved him since she was fifteen. But can he be redeemed? Can Alex make Owen fall in love with her instead of Lavinia. The catch to their parents plans, Owen must make spoiled, Lavinia, fall in love with him. Once again, Ms. Bowman has devised a masterfully, brilliantly written tale. The characters will capture your heart, especially the H/H. The storyline is unique, interesting, endearing and entertaining. A fun read with flawed characters, witty dialog, laugh-at-loud moments, and a time when the reader will hold their breath, hoping, Alex and Owen find their HEA. A wildly entertaining, enjoyable and satisfying read! Fans of stories based on Shakespeare's tales, Historical Romance, light-hearted and highly entertaining tales, should really pick up "The Untamed Earl". Fans of Lyndsay Sands' "The Madison Sisters" series will enjoy this Regency Romance. Well done, Ms. Bowman! A must read! Looking for a change in pace, "The Untamed Earl", is a great choice. I look forward to the next grand adventure from Ms. Valerie Bowman! Received for an honest review from Net Galley. However, my opinions are my own. The Estate of the Duke of Huntley, Surrey - 1813 Miss Alexandra (Alex) Hobbs, age 15, and the younger daughter of the Duke of Huntley, is listening to the music at her sister, Lavinia’s, age 18, come out ball. Wishing she could be attending the ball, she cannot wait until it is her turn. Her brother, Thomas, age 13, is home from Eton and he and the stable lad are taking off on a clandestine nightly adventure. Thomas uses Alex’s window to sneak out of the house. When a brawl breaks out under her window, Alex hears Lord Owen Monroe, son of the Earl of Moreland and a known rake hell intervene in the brawl. It appears her brother is in the middle of the fight and Alex is very taken with Lord Owen’s take charge attitude in stopping the fight and teaching her brother and the stable lad that they must not get into trouble. Three Years Later - London - 1816 Lord Owen is currently facing a severe scolding from his father, Earl Moreland, who is totally fed up with his drinking, gambling, and associating with loose women. The Earl wants Owen to finally settle down and find a wife. In fact, he is giving him one month to become engaged or he will cut off his allowance. In addition, he tells Owen exactly whom he will marry - Lady Lavinia Hobbs, the eldest daughter of the Duke of Huntley. Thinking that it will be easy to accomplish this, he is surprised to find that Lavinia has said that she will only marry for love. This means he will have to woo her. So, now he needs to find out what she likes so he can attract her. At the same time, Alex has not been a success at her coming out. Actually, her debut has been simply a failure. She has no man interested in her and that’s just as well since her mother has said that she may not marry until her sister, Lavinia, has married. When she overhears her parents discussing pairing Lavinia up with Lord Owen Monroe, the man of her dreams, she is devastated. Soon, Owen is also learning that Lavinia is a spoiled tyrant and a shrew. Owen meets Alex at a soiree and she agrees to help him try and woo Lavinia. In exchange, Owen agrees to teach her how a man likes for a woman to flirt and act around him so she will be able to attract someone. As they spend time together, they become enamored of one another. Everything that Owen tries to do to win Lavinia fails. The woman is cold and unfeeling. Oh, but he wishes he could marry Alex, however, his father and Lavinia’s father have decreed that he must marry Lavinia. So, Owen and Alex are unable to give into their desires for each other. This is another of Valerie Bowman’s well-written novels. She includes characters from some of her past novels that we have come to love. Note: As for me, I am her character, Jane, and I like to hang out in the library and read. Copy provided by the publisher via NetGalley

Copy from publisher and author Ever since I read the first book in the Playful Brides series, “The Unexpected Duchess” I cannot get enough of Valerie Bowman. I’ve been waiting for this book since I finished and loved, “The Irresistible Rogue.” For anyone that has never read this series Bowman takes a very witty and historical spin on tales such as Cyrano de Bergerac, The Importance of Being Earnest and other classics as The Philadelphia Story and gives it a spin. Bowman is one of those authors I leap to read her work. I really enjoy her heroines, heroes and her plots. “The Untamed Earl” is a spin of the “Taming of the Shrew.” Alexander Hobbs is the sister of the alluded to shrew. Lavinia, her older sister, is definitely a shrew. When she was young she became very ill and since then Alexander lived in her sister’s shadow. For the most part Alexander accepted this lot in life, but when her parents arrange for her sister to marry the man that stole her heart years ago, Lord Owen Monroe, Alex takes matters into her own hands. Years ago Alexander met Owen by her balcony and since then he stole her heart. Lord Owen is Cassandra’s brother; she is the heroine from “The Accidental Countess. Owen has a bad reputation not only in society but also with his family. His parents think it’s time for him to marry and start taking his life seriously. With Lavinia’s parents they arrange a marriage proposal for Owen and Lavinia, but Lavinia’s parents insist that she must fall in love with him and accept him on her own terms. Lavinia is a shrew in every sense of the word. She is an awful bully and Owen realizes that although he has had no luck with other conquests, Lavinia is more than he had bargained for. Alexander offers up her help. She tells Owen that if he helps her launch in society then she will help him with her sister. I really like Alex and Owen, individually and as a couple. They were very sweet and they had great chemistry. There are some sad and heart-breaking moments and before long Alex realizes that her plan might need some reinforcements. I have really only two small complaints. One there was so much action and change of scenes in the previous book and this book was one ball after another. Second, I now have to count down the days until the next book in the series- The Legendary Lord which is about Viscount Christian Bancroft. I really loved the glimpses that the author gave us of his character and I cannot wait to see what she has in stored for him and Sarah. I really enjoyed this great shrew of a story and loved how the author finally gave Alex and Owen the chance they needed. Although the book is a part of the series, it is easily a standalone. However, the heart of the story is the friendship of Cassandra, Lucy and Jane -which I was happy to see them make an appearance. If anyone has time to sit around and binge read, I definitely recommend they do so with this funny series.

For Lady Alexandria Hobbs, the only man for her is Lord Owen Monroe, a rake of the worst sort who is being forced to marry her sister by their parents. Alex jumps at the chance to push her own agenda when he comes to try to woo her sister. In historical romances, there are really only 2 types of men, rakes and the honorable type.I tend to get sick of the rakes (even in the current timeframe books), but this one sounded promising. However, the fact that the heroine liked those characteristics really just didn’t work for me. It made it hard for me to really get into the book. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review
