She doesn’t want him. He doesn’t need her. Like hell…

An FBI Psychics Novella

Destin Mortin’s psychic gift comes with an ugly twist—she excels at tracking down violent rapists. But it’s rough on relationships. Once, her partner Caleb was her everything: filter, shield, rescuer, lover. The only man who didn’t think her a freak. Then he walked away.

Destin turned her back on the FBI to work for a private agency, but now a particularly horrendous case has come up, and her boss wants her paired with only the best.

For Caleb Durand, leaving Destin was an act of self-preservation. Every time she flung herself headlong into dangerous situations, every time he nursed her through soul-crushing visions, he’d died a little more inside.

Now they are forced to work together one last time. Tragedy has changed them both, but Caleb knows if he lowers his shields for an instant, he won’t have an icicle’s chance in hell of resisting the temptation to lose himself in her wild power.

But to catch the rapist, it’s exactly what he’ll have to do.

Warning: Contains tortured souls who have lost love and pined for their missing half, a woman who can see evil, and a hot FBI agent.

*In exchange for my review, I received a print copy of the book from an ARC giveaway through Goodreads*

Destin Mortin and Caleb Durand are both psychics and they're also a couple. Then five years ago, Caleb walked out, breaking Destin's heart. Now there's a rapist loose in Charlottesville and the police can't seem to catch him. Enter Destin. Her psychic ability allows her to connect on a deeper level with the victims and hopefully find the rapist. Caleb's the only one who can ground Destin enough for her to work through all the white noise and focus on the case. Neither of them wants to see the other because it means looking at the feelings that are still present. Eventually though, they'll both have to lower their shields and let each other in if they want a chance to solve this case. And maybe find a second chance at the love they once shared.

The Unwanted was a fast paced romance. Caleb knows exactly what Destin needs to do her job, even when she doesn't. Shiloh does a great job writing their story so that you feel the emotions that Caleb and Destin are feeling as they struggle to solve this case and sort through their feelings for each other. It's a quick read, not only in length, but because you won't want to put it down.Having never read one of Shiloh's books, I was a little worried that I would be lost, but this novella is written to be a stand alone. That being said, I'm looking forward to starting at the beginning of the series!

    A Psychological Thriller, Romantic Suspense.

This was the first time I read one of Shiloh Walker’s FBI Psychics stories and it won’t be my last. I like the theme of psychics working to solve violent crimes and the personal cost to themselves. The suspense is dark and sensual. The emotions of the characters run deep and are palpable. You feel and root for them. My attention was captured at the beginning and kept throughout. Though this novella is part of a series it stood alone well and though short it packed a punch.

Destin Mortin is a former FBI psychic now working for an outside agency whose specialty is tracking down rapists. Connecting with such monstrous individuals, seeing the memories of the victims is damaging to her psyche and destructive to relationships. She lost the most important relationship in her life that with her partner and lover, due to her “gift” five years ago.

Caleb Durand is a lower level FBI psychic whose talent is to act as a filter for other psychics and he is highly observant. Years ago he was partnered with Destin but had to leave her to save himself, their connection was destroying him and she failed to see it or the danger it posed to themselves and to others. He loved her but that love was killing him.

Now these two are brought together again for a case by Destin’s boss who wants the best partner there is for her on this case and no one partnered with Destin better than Caleb. No one understands her needs like he does and she will need such support to solve this case. Meeting again showed them both how much they still love each other and need each other but things have to be different this time. There is more than a case that needs to be solved here.

I found this story to be an in-depth look at two individuals who have taken on the role in life of fighting evil. We learn of their mistakes and the suffering born of such; the lessons they learned and the growth that the years apart enabled them allowing the re-connection of two lovers who perhaps can have another chance at a future.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olso

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Pack Alpha - Michelle L. Olson:
*eARC received from the author in exchange for an honest review

This was my first foray into the world of Shiloh's FBI psychics, and I now wonder what has taken me so long.

The concept is fabulous, one that I've enjoyed from other series in the past, psychics working to solve crime, and the characters truly
make the story come alive. Destin is a an ex-FBI psychic now working for a private firm. Her ability is unique, she can get into the heads
of sex offenders and work with victims to see their suppressed and blocked memories to catch the bad guys, After 5 years of unrest, she
is confronted once again by the love of her life and forced to work with him to catch a serial rapist.

Caleb is an FBI psychic, his ability being able to filter. He is also almost preternaturally observant - a great trait for an agent, not always
so great for a boyfriend. Five years ago he was forced to leave Destin because their connection was so strong it was literally hurting him
and he was afraid that it would ruin him, her, and anyone they were charged to protect. He never stopped loving her though, and this
strange job he was called in to consult on could be the start of something new for them - if he can just get her to listen.

Action packed, sexy, emotionally charged and thrilling, The Unwanted was an incredible read and spurned my purchase and preorder of
the rest of the books in the series. Highly recommended.

Destin and Caleb are both psychics. Up until 5 years ago, they also both worked for the FBI...and were a couple. In a shocking turn of events for Destin, Caleb left her...just walked out and she hasn't seen him since. Presently, Caleb still works for the FBI, but Destin now works for a private investigation company with many of her former FBI colleagues. Destin has never felt the connection to anyone else that she felt with Caleb, working together or as a couple, and her boss knows this. When a new case comes up that's not even on the FBI radar, Destin's boss decides only the best will do...bringing in Caleb to partner with Destin.

In their time apart, neither Destin or Caleb has been able to completely forget the other. Being together again will be a test neither of them prepared for, both personally and professionally. They both carry scars, they have both changed, but they will need to put their personal differences aside if they are to be successful in their mission - they need each other to do this. A forced togetherness might force them even farther apart...or pull them even closer together. First they need to focus on the job, but will they be there for each other to pick up the pieces afterwards? When they find what has been missing between them, can they take another chance at love together?

The Unwanted is a fast paced, action packed romantic suspense! Caleb knows just what Destin needs on the job and off...that has not changed for them. Shiloh writes a perfect blend Caleb and Destin's broken relationship and the suspense of their job. The Unwanted is a quick read, because you won't want to put it down! I really liked both Caleb and Destin, watching them struggle to heal and try to be together again.

This novella is the perfect length for Destin and Caleb's story! The Unwanted can be read alone, but I highly recommend the Shiloh Walker's other FBI books too!

I think by now you all know how much I love this series. And this one is no exception. As this is a novella instead of a full length novel I will keep the review short and sweet too.

Once again we have interesting characters with an involved background that we learn about but doesnt bog down the stories progress. Watching the chemistry spark back and forth as they try to learn to work together again and face their pasts is a not to be missed ride you wont ever forget.

While it is story 3.5 in the series. It is not necessary to read the ones that came before it, you should just because they are great stories. But you don't have to read them first to enjoy this one. If you love romantic suspense you really don't want to miss it.
