Overview

The Urantia Book, first published by Urantia Foundation in 1955, was written in the form of a revelation by celestial beings. Many who have read it accept it as such — and of course many do not. The facts about how it was reduced to written form are unknown.

However, regardless of the reader's approach to the text, the contents of the book are of real interest to all who are exploring the realms of religion and philosophy, or who are working on their own personal spiritual growth.

The book's material covers a broad spectrum of inquiry — from the genesis, history, and destiny of the human race, to our collective and individual relationships with God the Father. It proposes a consistent and compelling integration of scientific, philosophic, and religious thought. It builds upon the world's religious heritage to describe a sublime destiny for humankind, encouraging a personal, living religious faith as the key to individual spiritual progress.

The fourth part of the book presents a unique and compelling portrayal of the life and teachings of Jesus. The Jesus of The Urantia Book reaches out beyond the constraints of "mere Christianity" to touch the hearts of readers of all faiths.

    Needed Observation

It is true that I rate the reading of this narrative with a 4 star recommendation. I reserve the 5th, the highest rating, to inner conversations that I have with myself. Urantia entitles this as having a superconscious communion with my father, and that is what I do. The greatest of any excepted truth is within ourselves. We only pretend to use others to achieve self-acceptance. We assume until we adopt an idea of our own that much is okay. Urantia tells us that the final analysis of any truth resides in us. They are to be congratulated for that revelation, not cast aside in the antiquity of ideas that man holds strongly to. I find what I have read in this book to be a refreshing departure from conceptions that only serve to tilt a lever toward man's beginning. It is food for thought that feeds the superlative wonder of what we are.It is forgiving along the way. What more could we ask for?

    An Angelic Compilation

I have been researching the hidden (esoteric) origins and traditions of Christianity and Spiritual Truth for about 10 years now, although the quest was initiated in childhood. I have found nothing in the Urantia Book which does not uplift and/or confirm the teachings of my Master Jesus Christ. It is a beautifully written chronicle of the ages that I firmly believe is no less than an angelic compilation, by one of the host who wept at my Master's death and sang forth in sweet joy at his reawakening. If you find this a difficult read, it is possibly because you are starting from the front. Try reading the history of Jesus first and see what you think. The Roman Church emasculated the truth contained within Christ's dogma, this book will redirect you to his wonderful light (which is the light of the Universal Father).

A very beautiful work of literature and a very important event in human history.

If you are wandering through here, wondering what this Urantia book is about--get one and read it as soon as possible. You are loved and guided by our Infinite Spirit Father--there's a reason you are reading this, friend. Its not an easy book to read, but if you rise to the challenge, you will be eternally glad you did.

The only book you'll ever need

I discovered the Urantia book 23 years ago and the book is so personal to me that I have a hard believing that it has been shared with others. The Urantia book is organized, insightful, inspiring, flawless;it's like being a child and having a parent who could answer all of your questions to your complete satisfaction. After searching through books on metaphysics, quantum physics, theology, eastern religion, western religion,philosophy,science..this book has quenched my thirst for what I believe to be the truth and brought me to a more intimate understanding of the life of Christ. It has filled in the spaces that the Bible leaves out.
