Despite new limitations on psychological services across the board and psychological testing in particular, it continues to offer a rapid and efficient method of identifying problems, planning and monitoring a course of treatment, and assessing the outcomes of interventions.

Description: This volume 3 of a 3-volume set is a needed update and serves as a comprehensive resource for the most popular adult assessments and scales and of course, as a stand-alone teaching tool.
Purpose: Like all of the volumes, the purpose of the revised edition is to provide the necessary updates for an ever-changing practice environment. Volume 3 specifically addresses the use of specific psychological instruments for the treatment planning and outcome assessment of adults. The objective is to provide clinicians with knowledge of new instruments and expand upon previous knowledge. The book exceeds expectations and meets the need of today's mental health professional.
Audience: The book is intended for clinicians and graduate students in psychology and in medicine. These volumes are clearly excellent teaching tools and a comprehensive resource. Graduate psychology students and residents in general psychiatry will appreciate the wealth of knowledge contained in this volume.
Features: Volume 3 focuses in on the most notable instruments such as the SCL-90, the Brief Symptom Inventory, The Brief Symptom Inventory (BPRS), the Beck, the Hamilton Depression and Anxiety Scales, the MMPI-2, various sexual inventories, as well as geriatric scales. The discussions of tests and models are current and focus on the use, predictability, and implementation of these tests in adults. The index is extremely helpful and will serve well as a day-to-day resource.
Assessment: Volume 3 in this series is the capstone of a powerful 3-volume set of information. I do not know of a finer set of knowledge available that is both practical and easy-to-read. Strongly recommended.
