While rather light weight, this story was entertaining, I look forward to reading another with a more complicated plot.

I had read the first book in the series and liked it. I checked for more in the series and found this prequel. It explains a lot that I was wondering about in the first novel, but I am glad that I read this second because it would have lessened the impact of the finale in Book 1 of Extreme Medical Services. I will definitely continue with this series!

Creatures of myth and legend secretly live among us all. Even so, Vampire James Lee never thought he would need a paramedic or call 911. But when his right-hand man and werewolf friend Rudy is nearly killed in a car accident, his life and secret are saved by a young paramedic named Brynne Garvey. Now, as James helps Brynne learn more about his Unusual world and how to better serve her mythical patients, he realizes his desire. Even after sixteen centuries, James discovers a young woman can surprise and impress him in a way he has never felt before... I enjoyed the book. One of the reasons I enjoy fiction is Becaue it allows you to think about differences and interactions in people in ways you normally wouldn't have thought of. The world that Jamie is creating is going to have many options and ways to address personal beliefs and cultural beliefs at the same time. Having spent 20+ years of my life on the streets as a paramedic it starts with a foundation that I am comfortable in. In health care we treat the person in front of, no matter who or what they are.
