- LendMe LendMe™ Learn More
Not only is Janna Cutting scorned by Victorian Society for her Indian blood but also because she owns one of the city’s most profitable brothels. As madam she possesses wealth and independence and still she longs for one thing, the mysterious Hugh de Troyes. Yet, week after week, he treats her as nothing more than the proprietor of Keya House.
Fueled by jealousy, Janna decides to play voyeur during the handsome Frenchman's visit. What she witnesses leaves her aroused beyond endurance and privy to the knowledge that Hugh is far from satisfied. He deserves a woman willing to see to all his needs, a woman willing to bleed. Janna is that woman, but failing to convince Hugh might leave her with a wound far greater than any his fangs could inflict.

This a a good, solidly written Victorian vampire romance. Hugh is a vampire who frequents a London brothel to meet his needs and Janna is the madam who has secretly longed for him for two years. Janna has suspected Hugh's secret and confirms it when her curiosity leads her to spy on Hugh and one of her girls. On his next weekly visit, Janna offers to fulfill Hugh's needs herself, and so satisfy her own.
Review by Lori: This was a short story but was very entertaining. I hesitate to say much because I don't want to reveal too much of the story and ruin it for you. We'll give this a shot.... Meet Jana Cutting, a madam that runs a brothel in London. We also have Hugh de Troyes who comes in each week when the brothel is closed. He chooses his girl, goes into a room, does what he needs to do and this is his pattern each week. Jana is wildly attracted to him and wishes it was she that he chose each week. She feels unworthy due to her Indian parenting and so is not the pasty white that is all the rage and is instead a warm brown. Needless to say, things eventually heat up but I shant give too much away. That's for you to find out!!! The only complaint I have is this is too darn short. It would have been cool if it was more storyline, more plot. I still liked it though.
