Overview

It is the final quarter of the Nineteenth Century. The vampires, werewolves, and demons of our world have all been driven to the brink of extinction. But in a few remote and lonely places, evil still survives...

Something is attacking travellers as they cross a mountain pass in northern Carpathia, and vampire-hunter Anders Dragolescu and his apprentice, Stefan, are called to investigate. Aided by the beautiful and headstrong daughter of the local boyar, they discover a terrible swarm of monstrous attackers.

Forced to take refuge in a fortified inn, their only hope is to survive until sunrise. But as the night wears on, Dragolescu learns that their enemy has a dreadful reason for attacking them, and he must search deep inside his soul to find the courage to defeat them.
