Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Matt Collar
The Very Best of Diana Krall collects a nice cross-section of tracks the pianist/vocalist recorded beginning with her 1996 breakthrough album, All for You, and moving through to her 2006 effort From This Moment On. These are largely urbane and stylish recordings that range from her intimate and swinging trio work with guitarist Russell Malone and bassist Christian McBride to her lush orchestral and big-band numbers. While this is primarily a compilation for fans of the sophisticated, jazz standards-oriented Krall, Verve does earn some kudos for including at least one cut from her deeply personal and subsequently not as popular effort The Girl in the Other Room. Also featured are cuts from her stellar 2002 concert album Live in Paris. If you're a fan of straight-ahead jazz with a heavy dash of romance and haven't checked out Krall's work, The Very Best is superb place to start.

That girl can sing! Plus her renditions of songs using different time signatures makes what she's doing even more surprising and enjoyable. She's right on que with her singing, and does wonderful lead-breaks along with whoever the guitarist is for a particular song. I particularly enjoyed "Fly Me to the Moon", "'S' Wonderful", and "Let's Face the Music and Dance" - some of her best work, in my humble opinion.

I just got this and it is amazing. The songs are amazing and so is her voice. That's why the great Tony Bennett invited her to sing with him. Diana Krall is one of the greatest.

I have several of Krall's CD's, and I find her voice quality to being in a jazz lounge sipping on a cocktail, remeniscent of the Blue Note in Chicago, as well of other jazz cafes on Rush Street. I compare her style and voice to another of my favotite's, Peggy Lee. Krall's arrangements and her background players, are groovy,{if that word is still used}!

Diana Krall's music is easy and fun to listen to. Coming from a musical family, I have had the priviledge of being around so many types of music and I can honestly say that I don't always enjoy it all. But if there was one that many could enjoy? It just might be Diana Krall. My 16 yr old son, my drummer, doesn't complain when I have it on in the car. That speaks VOLUMES to me! I honestly feel she is amazing. And yes, very danceable...try slow and easy. "Feel the music."

Diana Krall already is easily one of the most talented jazz singers you will hear today. Her new CD "The Very Best of Diana Krall" shows her true self. The songs are great for rainy days when you have nothing to do. Some of her songs on this CD such as "Frim Fram Sauce" gets you going and makes you want to sing with Diana. I highly recommend this CD and other CD's by the most gifted woman in jazz today.

Those classic songs she sings are great, along with that beautiful voice of hers we all know and love. The DVD is great also. This is the one to buy.
