All Music Guide - Stephen Thomas Erlewine
The Very Best of Frank Sinatra is a simple double-disc collection of 40 Sinatra classics from his Reprise Recordings. For casual fans wanting something more than the single-disc The Very Good Years but don't want the four-disc The Reprise Collection, The Very Best of Frank Sinatra is ideal, since it contains all of the true essentials he recorded during the '60s and '70s, including "Summer Wind," "Strangers in the Night," "My Way," "It Was a Very Good Year," and "Theme From New York, New York."

    The Capitol Recordings are better

The Capitol years were Frank's best. The collection of songs here are good, but still don't compare to the Capitol recordings. They should have titled this CD collection "Frank Sinatra: The Very Best of the Reprise Recordings." I bought this years ago, then bought "Sinatra 80th: All the best." I found better versions of the classic songs Frank did at Capitol Records than I found in the versions Frank did for his record label Reprise, most of which come from the CD from Reprise that is titled "Sinatra's Sinatra." Anyway, I also bought "Classic Sinatra" to fill in with a few songs that were missing from "Sinatra 80th: All the Best." These were songs like "My Funny Valentine," "Oh! Look at Me Now" and "It Happened in Monterey."

    Great CD

If you want to get into Frank Sinatra, this is the place to start. There are at least thirty songs here that I will never get tired of listening to. The sound quality is great.

    Classic

Frank Sinatra is absolutely classic and wonderful, as this song compilation is. It's a two disc collection featuring upbeat, youthful songs such as Luck Be a Lady as well as retrospective songs like It was a Very Good Year. It's a great range of Frank's songs. If you're a fan of Frank and don't want to spend too much money, this is a fantastic choice.

A really nice compilation, but I would recommend a couple others

I give this five stars because...well... it's Frank (I'm a huge fan) and because it's the most concise compilation of his most famous songs. However, some of them, such as Witchcraft, I've Got You Under My Skin, and Come Fly With Me, are not his best or most famous recordings of those songs, which he did when he was at Capitol. For casual fans or those seeking the novelty of some Sinatra tunes, this one's pretty good. Overall I would suggest purchasing Reprise: The Very Good Years and Classic Sinatra as another option. That CD combination won't give you Somethin' Stupid and Wave, but will give you some of big hits from the Capitol years (I've Got The World On A String, You Make Me Feel So Young, One for My Baby (And One More for the Road)) and the swingier version of All or Nothing At All. The one here is a slower version.

The Best Collection of Frank Sinatra Music

''The Very Best of Frank Sinatra'' lives up to everything the title leads it to be. This is the greatest collection of Frank's music ever, well, except for the complete collection. But this is by far the best value in Frank Sinatra music. There is a very broad selection of Frank's greatest hits from his entire career! This is a great buy! A must have for every music fan!
