More traditional, R&B-style emoting and testifying is provided by veterans Vicki Winans "Forever," a live track with the Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference Mass Choir, whereas the towering Andrae Crouch, the kingpin of modern gospel, employs a robust southern soul horn section and energetic female backing vocalists part of his group, Anointed in declaiming his funkified "Jesus Is Lord." Tender, string-enriched balladry and restrained thunder are the order of the day when the formidable, under-recognized Yolanda Adams systematically scorches her way through an urgent plea, "Let Us Worship Him" with a blend of power, authority, and nuance that Whitney Houston must envy. Hip-hop beats and production flourishes compressed male voices and Vocoder effects reflect the integration of the most contemporary of secular musics into the gospel family when Mary Mary throw down on the dynamic "Shackles Praise You." All ye who doubt, prepare to be converted.

    powerful, inspiring

    I played this CD so much, I wore it out and ordered another. Purchasing this CD is worth every cent. Twinkie Clark, Marvin Sapp, Fred Hammond, Hezekiah Walker....singing about the most powerful, most awesome being...what more can be said?
