This is a wonderfully lean and economical cross section of the best late-'60s songs by one of England's most engaging pop
ock outfits. Starting with their hit cover of the Beatles' "Good Day Sunshine," the melodies flow out across 40 minutes, covering most of the group's best songs from 1966-1971 and going in some surprising directions

Overview

This is a wonderfully lean and economical cross section of the best late-'60s songs by one of England's most engaging pop
ock outfits. Starting with their hit cover of the Beatles' "Good Day Sunshine," the melodies flow out across 40 minutes, covering most of the group's best songs from 1966-1971 and going in some surprising directions (at least, for those who haven't heard most of the songs before); just when you're settled into a soft rock groove, the songs tend to take a short detour into pop (and even Europop) territory, or a pop-style tune will suddenly get just enough serious lead guitar beneath the melody to give it some sharper edges.
