Let me start out by saying that I really like JJ Virgin and she offers some really solid programs. I don't really suffer from some of the food allergies, but I tend to eat the way that she describes in the book. The biggest surprise for me was the complexity of the recipes. In my previous experience with her books, she jokes about hating to cook. I really expected this book to be more very quick, simple and relatively no-cook recipes. These recipes actually include a longer list of ingredients than I expected and there are some unusual items such as monk fruit extract.  Not to say that this is necessarily bad, depending on what you are looking for. A lot of the recipes look very good. I was just looking for more recipes for those nights when I need something quick and easy after a long day at work. These would generally take a little more time and they are not easily made with things that I always have on hand. They also include some steps that you need to start in advance, like soaking nuts. The non-recipe information is also very good. She describes some of the lesser known ingredients in detail and offers several types of meal plans. Whether you are a vegetarian, paleo, family....she has you covered. Definitely a good resource for healthy eating. I am deducting one start just because I would have liked to have seen more simple recipes.

If you are looking to jump start your weight loss, I highly recommend The Hungry Chick Dieting Solution that I found here on Barnes and Noble. It helped me lose 15 of my most stubborn pounds and I am loving how I feel. Buy it and try it. You will see the results that you have been praying for.
