Meet the Author

Erica Ridley learned to read when she was three, which was about the same time she decided to be a writer when she grew up. Now, she's a USA Today best-selling author of historical romance novels. Her latest series, The Dukes of War, features roguish peers and dashing war heroes who return from battle only to be thrust into the splendor and madness of Regency England. When not reading or writing romances, Erica can be found riding camels in Africa, zip-lining through rainforests in Costa Rica, or getting hopelessly lost in the middle of Budapest.

I enjoyed the story. It was fun and I thought that the storyline was full of intrigue. Although the heroine was on the road to spinsterhood, she did not downplay her brilliance in order to marry. I did wonder if she knew who she wanted to marry before I did...

The viscount wins of course, and that is the way we like it. Girl gets guy with only minimum of tears and temptation. It's free. Enjoy it!

Characters well done.

Its a good book. Especially for something so very short. The author could do with a bit more experience in historical romance. But i wouldnt say it was bad. Cute short read.

+/-65 pages of simple 1950s house wife perspective plot. She's such a "catch" because of how well she can plan a party and manage a household. I can't believe I bothered to read this and was eye rolling through out while also feeling sad for the author. Yikes.

A really sweet and funny read! Gotta admit, I didn't expect much after looking at the sad little cover. Glad I was wrong, or I'd have missed out on Amelia and Benedict's romance. An excellent novella that will have you laughing at the two main characters trying to manipulate each other while discovering each other.

I found so much of myself in Lady Amelia, we both love to organize, and don’t tell my husband, are able to get the men in our lives to do what we want, either without him realizing it, or with him thinking it was his idea. And I’ve always loved the name Amelia (such fond memories of the Amelia Bedelia books), so this was just one more reason why I enjoyed this book. This is a great introduction to Erica Ridley’s new series, Dukes of War. The novella takes place in a short period of time, in a couple of weeks before Christmas. Amelia gets it into her head to find a husband after 15 years of living with her brother, so her brother can finally find a wife. She was going to use the annual Christmas party that the Sheffield’s hold every year as the way to get a husband, but there was damage to his manor, so she must find a new venue. Amelia arrives at Lord Benedict’s manor, only to have to wait outside until he is done with his 12 hours of work. When she is finally let in, he is impressed that she came prepared to wait. While proposing her plan to him, he becomes even more intrigued by her. They spend most of the rest of the book looking at different places, and quickly falling in love. This novella was a fun, light-hearted quick read, and I’m looking forward to reading more books in the Dukes of War series.

This was a fun Christmas novella set during the Regency that introduces the Dukes of War series. The witty banter between Lady Amelia Pembroke and Lord Benedict Sheffield was great. She's quite the efficient managing spinster, and he's a duty-bound viscount by day and a confirmed bachelor rake by night. He's decided to cancel his family's annual Christmas eve ball because his ballroom was destroyed by a lightning strike, but that does not fit in with Amelia's plans at all, so she'll just have to take charge and plan the ball herself. Sparks fly, and the fun begins. This is a sweet, quick read.

Lady Amelia Pembroke is organized bright and always on top of things. She has decided that she now needs a husband so that her brother can marry without the burden of keeping his sister with him. Viscount Sheffield has a yearly gala that is supposed to be cancelled because of a lightening strike. Lady Amelia has convinced him to hold it with her assistance. Can a gala bring love and marriage??

Short little romance when you need a quick read. Not terribly special or realistic, but that's not really what one looks for in a romantic story.
