I purchased "The Vitamin Cure for Alcoholism: Orthomolecular Treatment of Addictions" in order to assist me in overcoming a long-standing, pronounced addiction to caffeine. I read the entire book, and it is likely to prove beneficial to people who have alcohol, nicotine, or caffeine addictions, which are each covered in this book. I learned a lot from the highly reputable authors, the late Abram Hoffer, M.D., Ph.D., who lived to be 92 years old, and his surviving coauthor and natural-health educator Andrew W. Saul, Ph.D. The book is not short on suggestions, and recommends vitamins in high doses, such as niacin [Vitamin B3] and Vitamin C, along with some others such as Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6 to name just two. Suggested nutrients, dosages, and numerous real-life examples of people who have benefitted from the suggested regimen and treatment are given. For me, I was able to reduce my caffeinated soda pop drinking [Diet Mountain Dew] down to low levels that I hadn't been able to reach in years [one-sixth the level of what was habitual for years]. The nutrients are helpful for feeling well, but they are not magical, and will-power is also essential to overcoming addictions. This book, at minimum, is worth the money and worth the "try" to help address your chemical addictions. I found the book interesting and useful.
