Overview

Roger Waters constructed The Wall, a narcissistic, double-album rock opera about an emotionally crippled rock star. The Wall paints such an unsympathetic portrait of the rock star, cleverly named "Pink," who blames everyone -- particularly women -- for his neuroses. Such lyrical and thematic shortcomings may have been forgivable if the album had a killer batch of songs, but Waters took his operatic inclinations to heart, constructing the album as a series of fragments that are held together by larger numbers like "Comfortably Numb" and "Hey You." The fully developed songs are among Floyd's finest, but The Wall is primarily a triumph of production: its seamless surface, blending melodic fragments and sound effects, makes the musical shortcomings and questionable lyrics easy to ignore.

There are some amazingly ridiculous comments about this album on this site, including the editorial reviews. First of all, comfortably numb and another brick in the wall part 2 are arguably two of the greatest rock songs ever written. Those alone would carry this album as historically important. Add to that the amazing songs Mother, Goodbye Blue Sky, Young Lust, Hey You, In the Flesh, and Run like Hell, which are better than the best songs of most bands out there. The remaining songs which tend to be short and tie the story line together are also a pleasure to listen to. It boggles my mind to hear any comment about this album other to simply say it is awe inspiring.

This album is a masterpiece, I have no idea why people would really dislike it. It is fun to listen to and it makes you think sometimes. And if anyone is trying to boycott this band, they are full of it.

the wall is the best album out there. It is a look into the despairs of post WWII Europe and the wall Roger Waters wished to put up around the fans that loved him, giving a deeper reflection into the mind of the genius, Roger Waters. Music and lyrics blend together to paint an incredible picture worth millions of words. It is no doubt a requirement for any aspiring musician, but also for anyone with any sort of music appreciation. It is the greatest concept album of all time

Pink Floyd's ''The Wall'', is THE best album ever. I listen to it every day. The songs are the BEST. A must-have.

The atmosphere is amazing! The movie helps give you a better grasp on the characters visually but the album oozes with so much Tim Burton like style, that you can just close your eyes and see everything; especially on tracks like, "Is there anybody out there" "Waiting for the Worms" and "The Trial".

I just started listening to Pink Floyd, so I decided to finally buy this CD. It is amazing, this is definately something to give a listen to. My favorite tracks are: Young Lust, Don't Leave Me Now ( It's discordant and mildly depressing but i love it), Hey You, Comfortably Numb, and Vera. As for B&Ns part in delivery my CD soft cover came a bit bent because of delivery. Keep in mind that the CD case is soft when buying, if that matters.

I think that ''The Wall'' is one of Pink Floyds finest work. I hope that people realize that this is such a fine piece of work and that Pink Floyd is the BEST band ever!

This is definitely a great album, has some excellent guitar playing and vocals. Meaningful lyrics, too. You'll have to pay more for it than your average CD since it's 2 discs, but it's worth it. Best tracks on the album include: In The Flesh?, Another Brick In The Wall (all of them), One of My Turns, Hey You, Comfortably Numb, In The Flesh, Run Like Hell, Stop, and The Trial.

BOYCOTT THIS BAND. ROGER WATERS AND NICK MASONS ARE ANTI-SEMITES WHO ARE BOYCOTTING ISRAEL. FIGHT BIGOTRY. Anyone who sides with Waters and Mason should go live in a Muslim country like Afghanistan or even the Palestinian territories - the darling of Waters' - where Christians are being murdered and churches burned. And Mr. Waters should lead the way. Join the Boyles in Afghanistan, prisoners since they were arrested for the crime of hiking in Afghanistan.

Now, at first, I was looking forward to listening to this album. I mean, look at the cover art! But as soon as I started, I knew this was a waste. This is a total peice of junk. Every courus is predictable. Don't waste you'r money.
