The Wall Street Journal [NOOK Newspaper]

Basically satisfied...

Navigation is less than ideal, but you do get used to it and get to a point where you can move around pretty well. It has never frozen my nook. There have been no delivery glitchs in the three months I have been using it. On the other hand, even with these glitches the fact is that I have my paper each morning whether I am home or not and it's not delayed by bad weather and I don't have to dig it out of a snowbank.

I think that the price is a bit high, given the savings to WSJ is saved paper, ink, labor and distribution costs. On the other hand, there is no advertising in the e version so some of that revenue has to be made up somewhere I guess.

All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Superior content, on a great canvas.

This eNewspaper has more than made my nook purchase worth it. It's delivered and ready to read which is conducive to my early morning schedule. The content is superior and reads well on the nook screen (no eye strain). Slight criticism - the navigation can be clunky but you get used to it. It'd also be great if they could push market data to the device, maybe for the next version.

Needs proofreading but the content is there

I was disappointed and did not subscribe.
First, the digital WSJ omits the blurbs at the end of the Op Ed pieces explaining who the author is & giving their credentials for writing. That was a deal breaker for me.
Second, the digital edition will show only one photo, but in the *microscopic* caption also refer to all of the other photos not available for nook readers.
Third, the proofreading is lacking. Randomly placed words or junk characters will interrupt an otherwise coherent paragreph. When compared to the print edition, this occurred only on the digital edition.
Finally, I am not sure why, but there is a tax on the nook edition of the WSJ. There is no tax on newspapers, so I do not know why there is on the digital edition.

Great version, easy to navigate

I have been reading other reviews where people have stated that there is no index, or hard to navigate. There is a wonderful index (at least there is while I read on the Nook). In order to get the index (and for the index of any other paper one reads on the Nook), you hit the little up arrow at the bottom of the page (same arrow you hit when you want to resize text) and hit "content". A nice index comes up. At the beginning of each sub section is a summary of every article in that sub section. Either browse though that, or click the title of the article, and it takes you directly to that article. As newspapers for eReaders are still "new", as much as many people are trying them for the first time, there will be many who jump to give negative reviews based on format, without realizing that the issue is simply that they have not yet learned to use their e-reader correctly yet. Over time, this will be less of an issue. Newspapers will continue to optimize there formats as well, making them even better.

Timely delivery

It is nice to wake up and have the issue delivered. Controls are no the most intuitive as moving from section to section or from article to article is slow but that is to be expected. I don't think anyone reads the real newspaper in order - you look through it and read what's more interesting to you. The electronic version doesn't make that portion easy.
Timeliness of the deliveries and the content is great - it is as good as one can probably get on this type of device without the touch screen but for quick access I may consider on-line edition instead.

WSJ Maintains leadership in the eNewspaper arena

The WSJ Edition on Nook is certainly an impressive product offering on the part of WSJ. Despite the inherent device limitations of the Nook, the WSJ edition has maintained its superior stylistic appeal. The content is the best, as always, and clearly ranks above all other eNewspapers currently on the market. Highly recommended subscription - a good investment !

Worth it!

It's been a while since I've had the print version - while the electronic version has less content than the print there is still that valuable content available. Most, if not all, of the sections are available. The issue does have the New York City edition, possibly because I am on the east coast, which really didn't interest me as much. It does take a while to get through, however if you are in need of financial information it is worth the subscription.

Good, but could be better

As many have commented before having the WSJ delivered every morning to my Nook and available when I head out to work is terribly convenient. The layout is a bit difficult to use, and you aren't able to see the detailed stock listing page in Money and Investing (I guess for obvious reasons given the size of the screen). I will also echo the point that the What's New section and Indices should also be displayed on the front page. Cant wait for more business/finance magazines to make it on the bookstore.

Very Good Application

I enjoy reading the Journal in Paper form but find this much easier to travel with and stay current. Highly recommend WSJ on Nook.

Great for the price

I have the Nook Simple Touch and this paper works great with it. I belive the price is a great deal. Sure, you can subscribe for the paper ed or online edition cheaper, but in a year, that price than triples. Paying $14.99 a month to have it on my Nook first thing when I wake up is worth every penny. I love the content and the opinion section. I highly suggest this paper.

Great Paper

What a great paper. I could not believe how much content was in this for an electronic version. It was very easy to navigate through the stories. It includes us and world news as well as the financial news. Well worth the money!!!

I live in a rural area and could never buy todays WSJ. Now I download it each morning with my coffee. Its Great!

Big improvement over old WSJ

however, I can't find time to read enough of it to be worth the price. I love the new format and it's fun to download an issue once in a while, but it's difficult to arrange that. Sorry.

Great but Not Reader Friendly

I try to read the Wall Street Journal every day, but wanted to try an electronic version. The content is the same but you have to read each article one at a time. So it doesn't facilitate browsing the way the real paper does, or an electronic copy of a real paper. That's my only complaint - it's too time consuming relative to reading other electronic versions of newspapers.

Started subscription but unable to access thru iPad app

Works fine in Nook. no response from customer support so I am not sue if it's a policy or technical issue. My NYT subscription is accessible from both devices.

Not Windows 8 Compatible

Should be aware that if you are going to be using Windows 8 in the near future you should be aware that this newspaper is not compatible with the Nook App available for Windows 8 viewing. Disappointed!
