More About This Book

Overview

Just when the pieces begin to add up, danger blows them all apart…

MA1 Iskander Ayhan’s orders are simple: stay with Admiral Dalton’s son as a plainclothes bodyguard while the kid attends university classes. So typical—a high-ranking officer abusing Navy resources for unnecessary security.

It isn’t long before Iskander realizes there’s more to his assignment than protecting the kid from benign harassment by homophobic classmates. Behind those piercings, eyeliner, and bad attitude, Troy Dalton is scared. Truly, deeply, scared.

Troy is indeed hiding something. Iskander is the only one who’s ever taken his fears seriously, which gives him hope. Yet Troy isn’t sure one lone, armed-to-the-teeth bodyguard is enough to keep him safe, especially since he can’t risk telling Iskander the truth.

As Iskander slowly gains Troy’s trust, the walls start coming down. And before they know it, the warmth between them explodes into real heat. Until suddenly Iskander realizes he’s a magnet for danger, not a shield.

Now he doesn’t know how to keep Troy safe—stay close, or get as far away from him as possible.

Warning: Contains a younger man with a thing for older men, and an older man who doesn’t usually have quite so much trouble resisting younger men. Author is not responsible for any bad academic habits that might result from watching these two “study” for their exams.

The Walls of Troy, L. A. Witt

Review from jeannie zelos book reviews

I really enjoy L A Witt's writing, she writes just what i want to read, a tender romance, with a sensual and slow build up and all wrpaeed up in an interesting story. She’s done it once again with this novel.
Iskander is a great lead, he’s committed to his career and has chosen a hard route being in the Services as he is Gay. Still, since the repeal of DADT its been easier for him, but as ever there’s a thin line to tread. He’s on an assignment to bodyguard the Gay son of Admiral Dalton. Troy has been subject to harassment at college so Iskander is to be with him during the day, going to lessons with him and generally watching over him. Troy is an odd mix when Iskander first meets him, piercings, eyeliner, dyed and heavily styled hair and giving a real “stay away “ vibe. Yet Iskander feels there’s more than just being antisocial, that its as if the image is a mask Troy is using. After just a few days he feels there’s more to the problem, but no-one is telling, least of all Troy. Why wouldn’t he though, what’s stopping him? The other guards thing he’s making it up, certainly the notes bear a resemblance to Troy's writing, and they feel he’s just attention seeking. If that’s the case though why not milk it, instead of going for this head down stay away vibe? The more Iskander gets to know Troy the more convinced he is that he’s genuinely scared. Things happen that point to PTSD but will anyone take note and how on earth can Iskander suggest it tactfully? Then throw in that Troy is hot and he clearly is attracted to Iskander, and the more they get to know each other the closer they get....until they are creating some serious heat between them. Iskander knows he’s risking his career, but its not until he’s attacked and injured that Troy lets something slip that makes him realise he’s also bringing the danger closer to Troy, that the seriousness of what they are doing really gets to him.
Its a great read, full of puzzles, sensual sex, and tender moments. There’s the mystery of what Troy is hiding? What is it and why won’t/can’t he say especially as he’s genuinely fearful for his life. When the story finally comes out the danger has reached a climax, and everything gets thrown together in a dangerous and spectacular finish. Loved the epilogue too – I do like to see a bit of that x months/years later at the end of a book. Lets me know just how things continue.
    Stars: Five, a great read.
