Ann Rule is one of the best true crime writers of all time. She takes a case, and turns it into a shocking story that will make reader cringe. "The Want-Ad Killer" was well written, and told of the shocking true story of a man who was sentenced to hand, but then, lived to kill and rape countless women again. Although I am not sure why the story is called "the want-ad killer" (it told of one instance where he put in a want-ad, it was a good read, but short.

The Want-Ad Killer is a very disturbing, true-life account of the life and crimes of Harvey Carignan. True to her unique style of writing, Rule provides an engrossing, horrifying tale. I have read all of Ann Rule's books but this one was especially of interest to me as it is partially set in my home state of Minnesota. This is a must-read for fans of true-crime novels. I would also recommend: The Stranger Beside Me (the Ted Bundy story), The I-5 Killer, Green River Running Red, And Never Let her Go, and Mortal Danger. Ann Rule's true-crime short stories are also fascinating.
